28" tall tires on 87-91GT's.......
I ment "28" tall tires on 87-93GT's..."
I have heard that the 28" tires help on cars with decent horspower they are not as likely to unload on hard launches can anybody contest to that? For those of you running 28" tall tires on 87-93 GT what modification did you have to do to if any to the ground effects, I am thinking of installing a 93 Cobra bumper cover will this help. The 28" tall tires should be fine since I am swapping to 4:30's, if you have 4:30's or higher what size street tire do you run, height. ------------------ My Ride Check Out My Site 91GT, Holley SysteMAX II Kit-Heads 2.02" x 1.60",Full MAC exhaust 1-5/8" Long tubes, 2-1/2" O.R H-Pipe, 2 1/2" cat back, 12" K&N Filter, RNH PERFORMANCE Ram Air, Ron Davis Radiator, Full Suspension,3:73's, Welds, Best on new motor-12.60 @ 108, no traction 1.98 [This message has been edited by Rick 91GT (edited 01-27-2001).] [This message has been edited by Rick 91GT (edited 01-27-2001).] |

I am running out of r's at the high end and considering using a 27" or 28"
You can break axles easier though. ------------------ 4.10's,long tubes & 75 shot...Goes 12.50's Check it out at http://www.burnouts.webprovider.com |

Yeah but 31 splines are pretty damn strong, there are 9 second race cars running 31's, as long as you upgrade breakage shouldn't be a real issue. Can't wait to bring the r's up and let it fly at 5000
I am looking at the Superior axles they are machined not to leak with the C clips elminators and they have stronger splines due to there machining process. I may go with a FRP trax loc, I need something I can rebuild is something goes wrong. ------------------ My Ride Check Out My Site 91GT, Holley SysteMAX II Kit-Heads 2.02" x 1.60",Full MAC exhaust 1-5/8" Long tubes, 2-1/2" O.R H-Pipe, 2 1/2" cat back, 12" K&N Filter, RNH PERFORMANCE Ram Air, Ron Davis Radiator, Full Suspension,3:73's, Welds, Best on new motor-12.60 @ 108, no traction 1.98 |

I saw a gu running 28x11.5 on a GT. He had to cut the sh!t out of the stock groud affects, but he did it. He had the Weld draglites, with a 4 1/2 back spacing. It looks close, but it fit.
