NEONS ARE **** SLOW!!!!!!
My friend has a 2000 Neon with 132HP and the infamous gay(cab)-forward design. He thinks he is going to be high 15's.
I have driven many and have trouble squealing the tires with a 5 spd. Neons are trash slow...Thank You ------------------ C ME FLY 88 Notch MAC headers, H-pipe, and Chrome 2.5" pipes, pullies, K&N filter, BM shifter, 17" ROH ZR6, Dropped 1.5". |

My friend got a rental car with auto and SOHC and we beat the holy hell out of it....thing was hard to throw around because it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO slow. Ever driven 60 mph in first gear in a neon....hahaha i have. I'm impressed it didn't have a knock once we were done with it. |

I have heard that they are infamous for being very unreliable but of course so is all of dodge vehicles recently cept maybe viper or ram. I'd have to say they are pretty quick. 132 horsepower is not the best version. Ever heard of the ACR that weighs like 2300 pounds and has like 150-160 horses? It hits 15' stock I think and with a few mods would be decent quick for what it is. Remember its an economy car and they don't pay your insurance.

When I was in High School, a friend of mine had a neon. It was a 5speed, completely gutted, and had some bolt ons. That thing was pretty quick. Off the line, it was fast, but it had no top end.

The 1G ACR's had a better suspension and the DOHC 150HP engine.
The 2G ACR/RT's have better suspenison and the old SOHC engine with a revised intake to make 150HP and have a better tourque curve. Still a hig 15 low 16 car. Their was talk of producing a SRT which had a supercharger(11# of boost). SCC did a test and this Neon ran 0-60 in 5.9 seconda and the quarter in 15.1 at 103.5 mph. Good driving ehh! ------------------ C ME FLY 88 Notch MAC headers, H-pipe, and Chrome 2.5" pipes, pullies, K&N filter, BM shifter, 17" ROH ZR6, Dropped 1.5". |

The SCC article I read quoted a 14.7 @ 95.8
Thats not to shabby if it would have been built, but SCC basically called the car a piece of junk. |
