New Pb @ Orlando Speedworld

Let me start off by saying I have a Grand Prix GTP, not a Mustang. I visit this board bcause my buddy (Venums 93) post here a lot and we read each others boards because they are both great. You guys have a lot of cool post so flame me if you want. I'm just another car guy. It finally cooled down here in Fl. I was able to land a 13.97 @ 99.62 mph w/a 2.18 60'. I was on G.Y GSA's which I hate. I was able to land a 2.008 60' on G.Y GA's last Spring. I need some new tires to get it down somemore with current set-up. I've only have around $500 worth of mods to date.

If I remember correctly Venums93 is the guy with the 93 cobra that runs low 14's.

Seems like you two would be a good match.

Nothing wrong with your car I like those quite a bit:)

Nice ET,

GREAT JOB!

..by my good friend noxcape!
we used to be within .02 as far as 1/4 times, but now I have some work to do to try to get close again.
His car runs VERY strong & he is now limited by traction problems(like I have been for a while now, too...but I have some tires now)so maybe I can close the gap some next time out to the track. I think if we ran head-to-head it would be a tire-blazing mess as we wouldn't be able to get out of the hole worrying about the other guy & not the tree!
Great job, again, noxcape & let's get the Cobra back to the track SOON!:D

Later!

Sean

I'll be there! Look for a red hatchback with silver mustangworks decals in rear quarter windows. I'll be alongside the fence next to the staging lanes.

typeR 12-13-2002 11:35 AM

wow i didnt realize there were all these florida guys here...i might have to join ya...BTW noxcape ...i too would be a good car for you to run('01acura cl) i just went 14.047 at 99 a few weeks back at bradenton the weather wasnt great though 70* with almost 100* humidity i know i have a 13.9 maybe even a 13.8** in me...

typeR 12-13-2002 11:37 AM

just a warning to all of you last time there they were enforcing the helmet at 13.999 rule strictly...come prepared

typeR 12-13-2002 12:21 PM

They told me that the last 2 times I was there! they stil let me keep running though, personally I think it's stupid! I can see 11.999 or better, but 13.999? I thin I'll try and find a helmet to borrow just in case, if not... I'll just play dumb! ;)

typeR 12-13-2002 12:28 PM

when did you go last? this was like a month ago...they said insurance ,and my friend in his SS went 13.2 and couldnt run again w/o a helmet which there was only one and he had to share it with three other guys..got like 4 passes...

i aggree the 13.999 thing seems alittle slow for a helmet, but my other friend who also didnt like it, ate the wall at sunshine after a speed shift into 3rd got him sideways...he did 13.3 at bradenton...
i have a FWD prospective though so i cant see getting in alot of trouble going 13.8-9

LS1JAY 12-13-2002 12:39 PM

I was there 2 weeks ago and was running 13.0's! tomorrow I'll be putting on my headers and O/R pipe.:D

Noxcape 98 12-13-2002 03:33 PM

Hey Type R. We have a lot of GTP's that run at Orlando Speed World. 2 weeks ago we had a gathering and the last count was in the 20's. A few were in the 12's but most are on the 13's like myself. When I did the 13.97 it was with a 2.18 60' . I've been able to get as low as a 2.008 60' of rad's. That night traction was not so great. If I got the 60' down to my normal I should have been around a 13.7. I just put a smaller pulley on since my PB. It will add another 1 1/2 of boost (around 12-13 psi). My times should once again drop pretty nice.

was nice to meet you too Jay. you got your 12.8 like your friend said! even with the tenth slower your friends say they are running wouldn't help me out trying to get a new best. You right my first run would have been it. i used the analyzer here and it converted my 1/8 time to a low 13.4!

i missed 4th gear on first pass :o

We all have bad days at the track, one things for sure, I never miss a gear!;) <I have a automatic!:D The track prep wasn't all that good either today comapred to Saturday TNT. everyone with a manual has had those days where they just can't quite find the gear, like you were saying though, your 8.5 pass in the 1/8 would have been a good time for you, maybe next time.

The pic in your sig looks familiar!;) I live between Aub and Lakeland, you ever hang out at the K-Mat on S. Fl ave in Lakeland on Fridays?

MattwantsSpeed 12-20-2002 01:12 AM

Nope, I haven't been there. Which K-Mart? I think there are 2 on 98. There is one where Best Buy is, I live about 1/2 mile from there. Also the pic in the sig doesn't do justice to how hammered the car is haha. It was never taken very good care of by past owners.
