New Track Times for the new Lizard... (2002 GT)
Again bone stock.
Got myself loads of 13.8xx runs, a 13.79 and a 13.77. Not bad considering the car is still "breaking in" at 2500miles AND the mid section of the track was terrible. (loads of spin in second). I have no doubt this one is capable of beating the 2000GT's times (13.662) stock for stock, but I may put some mods in May on the car. Hoping to see some low 13s (like 13.1-13.2) with exaust and pulleys. Only time will tell. |
a dumb question? was there a hp change from 2000- to the 2002, just curious.
|
No idicated HP change. But I have learned this weekend that my exaust is different in 2002 ... sometype of a bullit one piece system. It does sound different than my old one; seem to grun more from the rear than the engine.
As well, the tranny in the 2001.5+ is that new Cobra Tremec one. Supposed to be more reliable. |
Welcome back man! I was wondering where you went. So what happened to the green GT??
I think you've proved that the last one wasnt a freak, it's just great driving! Congrats! |
Great times. Sounds like you can drive. Good job.
|
Well, my 87GT pulled my 2001GT before I returned it for the 2002GT I have now. Wonder if my 87 is a mid 13 car after all? LOL.
Nice times with the 02. My car only has 350 miles on it, so it's nowhere near past break in. I haven't even had it above 4000rpm yet, and only 4000 a couple of times. It'll be getting it's first oil change at 500mi. Then I might play with it a little more. |
Man you must be a pretty good driver.... getting such good times with these stockers.... I didn't think the new gts where that fast stock...(no flame intended)
|
Thanks guys.
I truly believe it is a driver's thing. We had a total of 5 99+ Mustang GTs running at the track. 2 slightly moded verts and 3 Stock GTs. The 2 other GTs had a best of 14.2, one of the verts with cat back exaust pulled a 14.1 (pretty decent), and the other vert (my buddy) pulled a best of 13.72. He has a no Cats, prochamber, flowmasters 40, ColdAir, Diablo Chip, suspension work, and a Steeda Shifter... He is a very good driver as well. Today some others went to the track... and the best one cracked a 14.1. Curious, what is your best STOCK mustang run ever? |
14.98
its with the 85 GT with stock everything, and when i say that i mean EVERYTHING downt to the plugs and 1985 tires....... i wouldnt say its that bad for something with old stuff on it. |
How about some driving lessons....
Man those are some great times....It must be nice to live near a sealevel track we all pull crappy times at my track cause of the altitude (3000ft). Its kind of funny hearing about stock LS1's runing 13 flat and new GT's running 13.6 stock.
Over hear we are used to.... LS1's 13.9-14.3 99+GT's 14.5-15.0 The best run I have had this year was a 14.2 @97 spinning through all of first and part of second....I got some mickey thompson ET streets on the way :D What kind 0f 60ft times are you getting??? and are you power shifting??? Nice times... Later, |
Nice times!
My 88 GT went 14.6 @ 96 totally stock. About average I guess. |
Dark5.0 ... I run 2.07 - 2.12 60ft times. I do semy power shift, I don't keep the throttle planted, but I don't let off either. You make a good point about the conditions (alltitude) we are very close to sea level in the Ottawa Valley!
Anymore of those 99+ times? |
Good driving once again, and it seems like u got a good track
WHAT MPH it turn? |
98-99MPH.
|
man you should make some mods.
you are a good driver!!! you should think about investing in some mods and racing in shootouts and turning that driving ability into some money. you know.
|
Nice times, Lizard.
I guess after two different GT's, it's confirmed that you're a pretty darn good driver. :D Keep us posted on any mods and future ET's. E |
i thought the lizard died;) but i guess not! long time no hear man! congrats on your times:) excellent driving lizard and good to hear from you!
