Next SO CAL race day?

Hey Sky or other So Cal stangs - when's the next day at the races? Every thing's swapped over from the '86 and I've still got all my fingers http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif I've got a MSD-6AL still to put in, but I'm ready. The '93 is bright red so I'm sure I'll get a couple races now that the exhaust actually has some rumble to it. Probably some attention from the cops too.

As soon as everyone wants to head out to bakersfield I want to go. I'll finish the NOS as soon as were ready to go. Just give me a date and a time. I'll be there.

Lets go THIS SATURDAY! Got the clutch in, put a stock MAF in and its ready to go. Whats the elevation at Bakersfield. I heard that they are REALLY cleaning up Carlsbad so we can get some traction now.

scratch that, I just talked to my friend who was at Carlsbad last sat. He said that his friends 347 Fox with drag suspension on radials was only hitting low 13's @ 120mph! His 60ft was a shitty 2.6!
Lets go to Bakersfield.

Skyman 06-11-2001 03:08 PM

I am in!!! Saturday it is. **** I've got a lot of work to do. I better get my *** in gear. Well it is only monday but still...

My best 60' w/ my drag suspension and radials at carlsbad was a 2.56. So thats about right!

Me too! This time I'm not racing anyone Friday night. Where do you guys want to hook up?

fastang 06-11-2001 05:42 PM

OK! Now Im fuckinstoked! I have NO idea how to get to the Bakersfield track. In fact I dont think I've ever been to bakersfield cnty. Can someone give me directions. If Bakersfield hooks up anything CLOSE to what Pomona did, Im gonna pull some decent times. My best 60ft at Carlsbad was a 2.2 on Nitto D.R.'s. My car isnt detonating anymore either. I think I'm going to bring my Vortec housing, and make a pass w my stock MAF, then make one with the Vortec and see if it makes a difference. It was the Vortec MAF that was making my car run poorly before. Now I'll know for sure.

I think were talkin Bakersfield. Does anyone know the elevation of this track? Do they run at night too? I really want to run at night.

46stang 06-11-2001 08:16 PM

http://www.famosoraceway.com/
that should have the schedule! it's easy to find! the traction is descent but this time of year it is humid there(my best 60ft was 2.15 bfg street tires). they mostly run us street guys on the friday high school grudge match nights but you can also go on the sat, but it'll be real hot in the day http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif. they open at 6pm-11pm fri. but they don't start racing until 7:15-7:30. it takes 2hours and 15min to get there at 70mph. so you could leave at 5-530, and still get plenty of racing. i had 5 runs the last time. it's in alot better shape than carlsbad!!

I'm more than willing to drive for 6 hours to get a decent launch. Carlsbad is a shithole. It irks me that its at the PERFECT elevation but a waste of time. They charge WAAY to much money to run on a shitty track too.

Dont you want to know what you run on the street Sky? See what you can put down on radials with the juice. I bet you hit a low 12-high 11 anyway. Bring the slicks anyway.
It says no slicks and no electronic equipment but then it says call for details. I think the slicks defy the the (street legal) catagory since they arent DOT approved. But they will let you use them anyway. It says call for details so why not ask em?
Pat, it sucks that you cant come. I really want to see your car. Maybe you can get the night off or have someone cover for you?

46stang 06-12-2001 09:58 PM

the people at that track are pretty layed back, you won't have a problem using slicks! you're supposed to have a helmet if you run 13.99 or faster, and the tech guy said to me"don't worry about it kid, if you run in the 12's then we will probably call you on it!" i cracked into the 13's 3 times and they never said a thing! you need to wear pants and a normal shirt and closed shoes, they are strict on that. isn't the next one on the 22nd and 23rd of this month? or is it this weekend you guys are going?

89cp - check out http://www.famosoraceway.com/streetlegal.html Like I said, I was only reading the website.
The schedule has the next event June 22 and 23 but it also says on the Events page "Street legal drags are held on Fridays starting at 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays starting at 1:00p.m. Street Legal cars are always welcome during all of our Saturday Summit Races and all of our Saturday Open Test and Tunes." Does this mean every Friday and Saturday?

Skyman 06-13-2001 12:28 AM

Looks like the next ones are the 22nd (fast and the furious day) and the 23rd.

I would definatly rather go on a friday as it is night racing and would be much cooler. Bakersfield is hot as hell!

About the slicks, they had the same rule at pomona, everyone ran em. No big deal. The only thing I gotta get is a helmet.

22nd sound good for everyone?

89cp 06-13-2001 01:17 AM

withamc,

hehhe. I didn't click on the picture the last time. doh!

Anyhow, I'm sure you can use slicks. I was just there this past weekend with a friend and he got to run his slicks all day long. Hell, they let him use a coke can for a catch can! You can always try teching in with your radials and then switching them over before hitting the staging lanes, but I'm sure you will not have any problems with the slicks. You should have a safety loop though.

BTW, you can race both days, but Sat is when they have most of their points racing, so you will not have as many runs as you would on Friday.

enjoy

Skyman 06-21-2001 11:04 PM

NO NO NOooo.........

Well... I worked my *** off all day, running all over Ventura County to try and get gaskets. I finally do. And the EGR gets in the way of the fuel line hooking up to the Nitrous Plate. So I tried putting it infront of the Throttle Body. But the thorttle cable attachment got in the way then. Then I find I need a driveshaft safetly look for bakersfield. I bought one of those too. Ive tried everything can't get the damn NOS hooked up.

Im trailer the car to bottle blown racing tomrrow, they are going to fix it up some how, and then they are going to put a full roll cage in the car too. As I'll be in the 11's now.

So I can't go tomorrow. Im so pissed I worked all damn day the last 2 days tryin to get my car ready. But it will be ready after this weekend for next time.

That sucks Skyler. I was hoping to finally meet you and see you run. Well I'll let you know what I run. I'm guessing mid 13's, I don't know. Depends on whether I suck at launching or not. I seem to do best when I launch at 1500 and feather the clutch till I kinda hook and then just mash it. Still spins through 1st. I'm running Yokohamas.
I can't seem to get a straight answer from that lady at Famoso about helmets. I told her I've got a Snell M95 rated helmet, she says that's OK, then tells my friend that the Snell SA2000 helmet he just bought won't do. I think she's just reading straight out of a book and has no clue.
