Default Nissan????

Hey guys, this kid at school claims his parents are going to buy him this Nissan that has twin turbos. Have you guys ever heard of a twin T NIssan, i guess its a '94 or something. If you have heard of this p o s rice let me know. He says that it could beat my dads mustang. My dads car is a 89 LX 5.0. It has big cam, 3.75's, 9" with detroit locker, T-5, underdrives, motorsport intake, K & N air filter, and a 75 shot of juice. I find it very hard to see any rice taken on this thing unless its got some major dollarage put into it. WHAT do you guys think? I laughed at him, he didn't know **** about ****, that was the funny part. He said he would show me. By the way he is 16 and i find it hard to believe he would have the money to do some damage.

Post say your prayers!!!

there are several nissan's that come in twin turbo. the most deadly of which is the skyline GT-R. there are several years of this car that are making it into the united states and with some minor mods, these cars make sick power. 600 hp out of a twin turbo car with awd. if you are not familiar with that car, then it is the yellow car of the fast and the furious. as tireburner said, they also have a 300zx. i am not sure about that car, i have never personally seen a tt one, i dont think. but i have seen them destroyed by 'stangs. if it is a skyline though, you might want to put alot more money and a bigger shot in daddy's car. but, unless he is loaded. it shouldn't be a skyline.

Both cars cost alot!!!!

Now a 300z without tt is a dog I think my windstar minivan can take them. But the tt ones with some mods are quick!
There is a guy in town with a black one called the fairlady Z It has alot of mods and a 75shot I think he runs mid to low 12s.
But its still rice

geno5.0: Skylines(which are VERY hard to get in the US), and TT 300zx's are NOT rice. They are imports. Now these car's can be riced out, but so can GT's and Z-28's. Rice is not a car, it's a aditude.

"Skylines(which are VERY hard to get in the US), and TT 300zx's are NOT rice"

I agree! Here is my opinion - Supras, Skylines. 300ZXs, old Z's maybe even integra type r's are not rice. Rice is just people taking cars with no performance potential (base line 115hp Civics) and adding stickers and body kits etc. to make the car look as if it is fast.

If i see an import that has been modded so that it is fast i respect that, but rice is just a punk style attitude.

I doubt it is a skyline that the guy is getting. You would be lucky to have a skyline imported for less than 65-70k 300ZX's are pretty common though.

Post skylines in the US

well, i doubt that kid would know enough about cars in general to want a skyline. but contrary to the beliefs on this page. they are available in the united states, and nissan will soon be selling a version of the skyline here. i looked into getting one, and still may sometime in the not too distant future pick up a GT-R 34 VSPEC it is a badass car. but they are here, top of the line with minor mods. 90K out of most peoples price range.

I don't believe his parents would buy him a skyline, unless they have more money than sence.

A stock TT 300Z was easly defeated by my 97 Cobra. Haven't raced one in the LX.

Third, the excuses of "Wait until I get my" or "my friends, brothers, uncles, xxx will beat" or When I get some money for xxx mods" are just that.... excuses and a lot of hot air.

If he does drive up in one, and you dad will let you have the car, run em. Be sure to spray if he does have the TT. If the 300Z doesn't have the little rear spoiler, it is not a TT.

I say, race him anyway TT, juice, whatever, and let us know what happens. At least it will be fun!

TT 300zx's are sweet little cars, fast too. Hell race him for the hell of it, have fun, don't bet any money on winning though! Good luck!

contrary to what was said a little earlier, skyline's are very hard to get, money wise. they are twin turbo, right drive. if the wheel is on the passenger side, watch yur butt, it's going to be a good race. There are some companies that do conversions to make left driver's, but they have to take out one of the turbos to do it.
below are test numbers from road and track. with VERY simple mods, these cars can easily make over 500 HP. Japan limits what their car manufacturers are allowed to make. Every one you see will be rated at 276. They limit the computer (and some other things)to stop the number's there. One trip to a computer chip maker, and the car is unleashed to the beast we all know and love.

R34 Specifications as tested by Road and Track February 1999

Horsepower 276 bhp @ 6800 rpm
Torque 271 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm

Acceleration

0-40 mph 2.7
0-60 mph 5.3
0-80 mph 9.1
0-100 mph 12.9

0-1320 ft (1/4 mile) 14.0 @ 104 mph

Braking

From 70 mph 159 ft

Handling

300 ft skidpad 0.94 g

Interior Noise

Idle in neutral 47 dBA
Full throttle acceleration 81 dBA
70 mph cruising 72 dBA
70 mph coasting 71 dBA

These cars are better on the road course than the stang, while the stang tends to be a better drag car. If you can drive, and the car is stock, it should be a good race. But it is anot a skyline, so i did all of this for ha ha's

the reason they restrict the power is not because of the government. they all agreed to make it 276. reason being, they didn't want a war to erupt among them, because many of the tuners for the manufactureers are getting almost 1000 HP. Ever see a Subaru WRX AWD that makes 850 HP? they can and do all over the wrold, as long as you get the one built in Japan, and take out the governor.

Japanese manufacturers rate their engines at no more than 276hp. They do not restrict the engines to only 276hp.

The Impreza STi 22B is "rated" a 276hp, but performance numbers point to it making more like 370-380 at the flywheel. That's just one example.

Default heres the scoop

ok here we go. Yep its the 300ZX or what ever. Its a 94 and guess, he is going to pay for it himself. I laughed so hard. No im not going to race him. My dad is. Let me tell you, my dad raced dirt track and has been racing that kind of stuff all his life. His first car was a 68 charge magnum 383. This kid is 16, he thinks he is going to out drive my dad. I told him to start kissen his own ***. Another thing, i bet i could wait about 2 weeks and he will have this thing wraped around a tree or another car. Not that i want that to happen. But thats what happens when you get these cocky guys behind the wheel thinken they are in control of the world.

I highly doubt that this little boy is going to out drive my dads stang or even get the car. He says its going to cost him 8 grand. And his parents are not loaded. There average. And if he takes a lone out, he wont be affording insurance or hi po parts. And how the hell is he going to put them on, he doesn't know **** about ****. Im starting to see a problem with this little story, how about you.

ps. in my own opinion a 1.6 or 1.9 ltr engine is rice know matter who makes it. Because, there is no way in hell this little infant is going to keep up with a V8. maybe for one run, then the engines going to be shot. Personaly, the people that do this, i think are taking it in the back door. They are wasting their money. But a large bore 6 cyl or 4 cyl sounds good to me. As long as its got some cubes to back it up, its all good!

So nobody here knows about one of my favorite imports, huh?

The 1994 Nissan 300ZX TT makes 300hp. They have a 3.0L V-6, and the engine has a very broad, flat powerband. The car is a true grand touring car though, and a little weak against it's competitors due to lack of horsepower, and being a little portly. It'll tip the scales at about 3600lbs.

A stock 300ZX TT should run the 1/4 around a 14 flat, with a trap speed in the low 100's. Modification to the 300ZX is not as forthcoming with horsepower as it is on the Supra. Even if the kid has a few hundred to drop into the Z car, it will still more than likely run in the mid 13's or slower.

Your dad should beat him handily.

I flamed???? When????

The rims are a joke, no one in their right mind would do that to their car.

How is my sig rice? Cause I have a system and some turbine rims(yea, we all know how cool they are )? Cause I have times? Well it is a bone stock 2.3 and that is what it runs, I will be the first to admit that my car sucks *** performance wise. But read the part about the 5.0 or turbo coupe/SVO 2.3 turbo swap. That should clue you in that I'm not a ricer. If that's not enough, ask anyone on this board, they will tell you where I stand.

I was simply stating that a not all imports are rice. I could rice out anything, not just an import. Ricer's are slow, and have more stickers than brains. I would not call a 300hp 300zx a ricer(unless it had stickers or neon lights.)
