Well it happend my first REAL RACE I have picked on ricers but that does not count!!!!!!. Guys I need some help on HP estmates and 1/4 mile times. And this race may help. Last time I posted my mods I did not have enough Info!!

FIRST the race. Leaving work I pulled up behind a WS6 at a light, My heart was pounding because there was no traffic. And I might get a chance to see how fast my car is. The light turns green he gets going. Slow at first; I follow, then he hammers it , I do the same.He does not spin, and pulls a car or more on me because I'm smoking them. Remember I started from behind him!!he had a bit of a lead. I have a AOD and I hold 1st they hook up and I pull back even with his back bumper. He hammers 2nd and scratches right in my ear. I shift into D and start spinning again dammit!!!!. He pulls 3 or4 feet more on me and I hook up again. Here I COME!!!! I hold 2nd and drive by him, At the top of 2nd he is at my back bumper. I hit D again and he drops back a car and a half. We are doing about 90 to 95mph. And I see him shut down. So I do the same. We pull up to the next light he rolls down his window and say NICE CAR!! He has respect.:D and wont go again.

Now Help Me???? I just bought my car 5week ago and I feel I paid alot for it but when I saw it I had to have it. I bought it from the 2nd owner he did not do the mods. And did not know alot about them, he did know the basics. I checked them out and they are all there. start on top. Cobra intake, BBk 65mm tb,75mm Maf,K/N cone,24lb fms ing,Svo heads alu Idont know the size, Cam? dont know the size, But trust me it has one, very lumppy. bbk equ lgh hedders, offroad H,flowmasters, crane Coil ,distribtor does not look stock but it is ford it says svo? Underdrive pulleys, griffin alu raidtor. tranny cooler, sub frame connectors, gears??dont know what size? rpm is at 2900 at 75mph in over drive.battrie relocated. Stickers under the hood say hypertech. and he did not know it but I pulled a valve cover and it has roller rockers. also all bushings are urthane.
BODY 21/2 inch cowl and Saleen wing.
Custom: goldish sivlerish paint.
The car has 49000 org miles.

NOW I paid 8,250 for it did I get ripped off???
What HP do you think it has and 1/4 mile times will it do.!! On the heads and cam give me estmates based on avg heads and avg cam.
Any Est will help.!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: the WS6 was not the new one with the 4 big intakes on the hood but the older one with the two slits on the hood.

Thanks GUYS!!!!!
I posted a PIc

:D :D :D

First Nice Kill

Now down to business:

Assuming the cam is probably a ford cam since the heads are its probably a B,E,F will assume a E303 and we will assume GT40 aluminums since they have been on the car for a little while they are probably not the Gt40X heads.

I had a combo very similar except I had the iron heads, 5spd, coupe, and some other little odds and ends, I did not have RR's my car ran stronger than other cars with similar mods it went 13.2@105.5 (on DR's) and probably made 270RWHP (just a guess on the HP never dynoed)

You did not say if the car is a GT or a LX I will assume a GT you also did not say wether or not you had air, smog, or a stall.

A WS6 LT1 like you described usually high 13's to low 14's at about 101 depending on the tranny and driver.

Alright my guess is 13.8@104 with 260RWHP maybe more who knows thats my guess with all the variables.

As for the price its not bad if its good condition (like it sounds to be) and if it runs good.

FWIW I would try to get intouch with the former owner who did the mods and find out from him what cam, what other mods etc...

sedanman 03-19-2002 05:11 PM

Just looked at the car and noticed its a GT. So I stand by those guesses.

It also looks very nice and I am sure you will have lots of fun with it.

geno5.0, first nice kill...gotta love putting those WS6's in their place.
Second, nice car. It pays to buy a car that someone else (as long as they knew what they were doing of course) has done modifications to. Based on what has been done to it, and the way it seems to be performing, I'd say you got a pretty good deal.
Third, I've got a friend with almost the exact same set-up in his 5.0. The only difference is that he has all MSD ignition, 3.73s and a stall (don't remember which one). He was able to rip off a 13.4@ 104.5.
I would agree with sedanman and estimate you'd run somewhere in the 13.7-13.8 range at around 104.
I would also agree with sedanman's idea about tracking down the previous owner. It'll finally give you an idea of what you got, and will take the guesswork out of planning future mods that may or may not be compatible with mods that you may or may not have. See what I mean.
Anyways, sweet car man...I hope that helps.

Thanks

Thanks for the feed back guys. Guess it time to call a bounty hunter. ????ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO FIND THE FIRST OWNER I RAN CARFAX.

The car was bought new and drivin by the first owner up to 35,000 miles he lived in florida and traded it in to the dealer who shipped it to Omaha where The guy I bought it from Bought it.

Carfax does not give names any suggestions????

One more ?

One more ?

My father in law is the proud owner of a 99 C5 with bb tri flow exaust and a K/N He lives in Denver (5320 ft) and I live in Omaha(1800ft)ya know sea level. I have drivin his car a few times and it is fast. My stang feels as fast down here as his car up there. But I want to" show him up" when he comes to visit. What should I add mod wise to make him. Bow down

sedanman 03-20-2002 10:55 AM

First tracking down the original owner:

Does the title still list all the owners? If so you could search that way, that or try to see if any of the original paper work from when the owner took over the car is still in there.

Now to show up you dads C5:

This depends on wether or not the C5 is a auto or a stick and if it is a auto wether it has the performance rear axle or not:

If its a auto with out the performance rear axle you could probably take him as the car sits

If its a auto with the performance rear axle or a 6spd then I would recommend getting a stall, Drag radials, and tune it real good and it could be real interesting.

Of course a small shot of N2O would seal the deal!

89 Cobra LX 03-20-2002 11:32 AM

Geno, I live in Omaha too. I'd be glad to take a look at the car and tell you all that's been done. It looks like you've done a good job of identifying most of the parts on the car. I won't be able to help with identifying the cam, but I may be able to point out some other things. I live around 110th and Harrison. Let me know and we can hook up.

Maybe we can run em.:D

geno5.0 03-20-2002 11:37 AM

what a small world

I live on 116th and harrison brookhaven west . lets hook up

89 Cobra LX 03-20-2002 12:51 PM

too weird

Wow, I live in the original Brookhaven. Let me know a good time and we could meet at the Amoco that just closed...

geno5.0 03-20-2002 03:30 PM

good time ?

I get off work around 5:30 tonight or 4:00 tomrrow. or what ever works for you is fine

89 Cobra LX 03-20-2002 05:24 PM

Tonight sounds good... plus the weather is gorgeous for cruising around. I'll get there around 6pm.

Take care,

geno5.0 03-20-2002 05:37 PM

Great See ya there

geno5.0 03-21-2002 01:45 PM

Well got some feed back from 89 cobra lx and it seems I got a good deal!!! He thinks the heads are the gt40 E303 and he thinks the cam is lumppy to but he gave me good feed back

I need to get a few odds and ends traction bars or lift bars and get the tranny beefed up, and some better tires, :D

Mercury 03-21-2002 02:42 PM

Lets see, two slits on the hood, so that makes it the body style prior to the new ones. The WS-6 I believe reapeared in 96 if I remember correctly, might of been called just a Ram-Air option then instead of WS-6.

Did it say WS-6 on the rear? Might of been an LT-1.

EIther way, great kill. Gotta love hearing about them F-bodys going down for the count. Hehehehe. I know I do. :D

Sounds like you got a strong Fox There, and I wouldnt say that price was unreasonable, considering all the modifications it has. A good, clean, Fox-Body (LAter 80's, early 90's) seems to still seems to go for a pretty penny. There are several around town here that are relatively stock, but pretty clean that go for that price.

geno5.0 04-06-2002 11:31 PM

Damm you guys are good

Well I got to run it this week-end and you were right on!!!!!!. Seadman said 13.8 and I ran 13.8s consistently and was able to bust off a 13.66 @102.55mph with 2.14 60 foot times after burnning the **** out of my tries.Just cheep v-rated tires

How much HP do you think I have at the motor, and how much at the wheels.?????.

Also now what do I need to do to get into the high 12s?
What would be your nex MOD.:D

geno5.0 04-06-2002 11:55 PM

SORRY about the huge timeslip pic!

LX5liter 04-07-2002 11:05 AM

If you want an idea as to what cam you have, remove a valve cover and check out the lift with a dial indicator. Make sure the car is warm and the lifters are pumped up first. Do this on the intake and exhaust. You could probably find your duration to if you have a degree wheel.
