one huge turbo, one vw gti vr6, daily driver, and a 10.5 to boot?
some guy told a friend that his vw gti vr6 has 440 hp at the wheels, he has a big turbo, and showed him a 10.5 time slip, and he drives it every day. my friend went for a ride in the car, and he said the thing is fast, but could it be 10.5 fast?
i find this kinda hard to believe, but is it possible??? |
I'm not even sure if I know what kind of car that is. But I don't think 440rwhp would get him 10.5's, and also your friend would DEFINATELY know if it really was a 10.5 second car or not, he would't be like"ahh yeah it's pretty fast." He'd say "HOLY CRAP, I need to change my diaper now!"
|
Unless he has modded the drivetrain and has limited slip, I don't see how he could pull 10.5 with all that power going to 1 front wheel...
|
why not? theyre light, and there are plymouth K cars and minivans with turbo'd 2.2 liter 4 cylinders running in the 10s.

If it runs 10s you shouldn't be able to lift your head off the headrest when it is making boost.
|
u should make sure it wasnt a 10.5 on an 1/8th mile hehe

import slayer: you do know the lyrics are "Now Daddy ran the whiskey in a big block Dodge," not granddaddy, right?

People are bad judges of a car's acceleration. Example:
I used to own a Fiero. It would put down a few feet of rubber when you dumped the clutch, and it could chirp second somtimes. I thought it was fast (I even remember bragging about how it could go 106mph...2mph faster than my friend's Monte Carlo  ) When I got my Explorer, I thought it had great pickup. It was two tons of steel powered by a 150hp V6. Oh, it ran "12s", but it only got to 60mph by then. Then, when I drove my dad's minivan ('91 Voyager with the 3.0), I though it hauled. When I got my Oldsmobile (240 ft-lbs at 1800rpm), I thought it hauled even harder. Now I have my 'Stang, which would probably only turn a 14.5 if it wasn't half-gutted. When I mash it in second gear, it feels like it's going to run out from under me. It sure doesn't feel like a 14.5 car. I can't even imagine what a 12-second car feels like, let alone a 10-second. I'm guessing it's 10.5 in the 1/8th. |

there is no 1/8th mile tracks around, and his mph was 135 or something
|
heh yea i do like that song..
As for this car, who's to really say whether he is bullshitting or not? I mean, we all know that 10 second VWs exist, so why can't it be someone that you know? is this guy known to be a bullshitter? |
i dont really know the guy, but would you drive a 10.5sec vw in the rain, and snow?i think its bs, but we will see this friday if he is racing(he said he would)
|
cool.. let us know.
|
440whp would be enough to run 10's provided that the vehicle weighed less than 2500lbs. Another thing that you have to remember is that it is possible to turn down the boost for street driving not to mention that the pass probably was on race fuel as well.
|
yes.

I have see a vid of a 625HP to the Ground Jetta. it can be done with $$$ and thing Can be done.

Import Slayer,
don't feel bad dude, I love that song too, and I thought it was "granddaddy" as well. I guess you learn something new every day. |
Who sings that? my daddy drove a bigblock dodge, but he didnt run whiskey lol, he was the fastest in his highschool however.
back to the subject, i do think with enough money anything can go fast, i have a vid of a 422 zo7 going 9.90's on the motor, im certain they paid mti enough for me to buy a house, but it hauls *****!!! if anyone wants the vid i have it. |
