BEAT A CORVETTE!!!!!!!!!!

Me and a friend of mine were traveling back from another friends house coming up a long gentle sloped hill a couple of hours ago. We saw a Red '82-'9? style red corvette and pulled up next to it and matched it going about 35 mph (the speed limit) he appeared to be older and wore one of those golf style caps. I dropped it from 4th to 3rd and accelerated hard away from him. He didn't bite, so i thought nothing of it. Anyways about 10 seconds later my friend says, "dude, he's coming up fast!". I look in the rearview and notice him Hauling @ss getting real close to me (i had sped up to about 60mph and was starting to slow back down to 35 again). Anyways, when he pulls to my rear bumper i drop it back into 3rd and punch it. I started pulling and by the time i hit about 100mph he was about a car length and a half behind me. I couldn't believe it! I slowed down for a corner coming up and he was kind enough to back off because i needed part of his lane to manuever around the corner. I was so psyched! I don't know how fast those cars are, but it's just the fact that i beat a corvette which is just cool. I gave him a thumbs up about 2 miles later, just before my turn and i went on my way to my friend's house to drop him off.

Good kill! Sounds like the guy was cool too. I think when you have a race like that, it just makes the win better.

Good Kill-

Not to downgrade it or anything but the 84 corvettes and most pre-90 vettes were really slow, a guy at my work had a stock 84 vette and I was side by side with him in my 99 Chevy full size, that will give you an idea. the 84 had the cross fire injection which was crap. A kill is a kill though, obviously he was confident enough to want to play.

Thanks guys, i was pretty excited!
This car was flawless looking and i'm not exactly sure what year though. People on this board have said my car is a low 14 high 13 second car (it has 3.55 gears, i've taken out all the sound deadening and rear seats and panels, 1.72ratio roller rockers, MSD ignition, and a few more things). I shifted into 3rd when he was at my rear bumper but he almost got to the door. He didn't stay there for long though http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif It might have been an older one because he had momentum and i still pulled on him pretty hard. Even if it is an older one, this is the first 'vette i've ever beaten!

The C4 1984 through 1986 vettes were iron headed pigs that run in the 15's. 1987 saw the addition of aluminum heads on the L98 which droped times down into the 14's. 1992 came the LT1 and finally a 6-speed vette would turn easy 13's. My father's 1995 automatic ran 13.80's with a K&N filter and nothing else. But still, it's always nice to win. As long as what you beat is respectable. A stang beating a neon is nothing to brag about you know?

It was a Vette though and not a Neon. The Stang is not really very heavily modified either. My thought is it's a good kill.
