Corvette guy just doesn't understand

I'm driving around tonight with my wife in the car just cruising. This guy pulls up next to me in a early 90's corvette with a friend in his car with him. Looks like he had Borla exhaust, probably the only mod. It was a manual atleast. I did not even once think that I should race him. We were driving on a real busy street with alot of traffic in front of us but he kept giving the throttle short blips while driving next to me trying to egg me on. Yeah right! This is not the only time I have had someone try to race me in traffic. What is their problem? Don't get me wrong, every once in a while I will race someone from a stop light if it is not a busy street and there is no traffic behind us or ahead of us, but right in the middle of a bunch of traffic through the middle of town? I just don't get it.

Sometimes if you just point and laugh at them, they get mad and just leave you alone http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

You know I do not know if my car is bad luck because I have never been able to get in a real, good race. I am always unable to race due to weather, cop's presence, something wrong with the car, or, in your case, traffic. I would say traffic would be the #1 culprit in preventing a race. And yet, people still screw with me on the street. I dont understand either why lunging and giving gas in the middle of traffic is needed. I always just want to say, "yea. i know youre there and im glad too that you have a gas pedal. now get the f.uck outta here."

Maybe he was just screwing around and didn't really want to race. Sometimes I give people a rev and a thumbs up just to acknowledge that they have an impressive car. Doesn't mean I want to race right there and right then.

Could have been a possible miscommunication. I always give the benefit of the doubt. Of course there are idiots out there that do want to race in traffic.

Just a few thoughts.

I find myself in similar situations quite frequently. Seems for the most part I always have people try to race me in traffic. Sometimes its hard to stay disciplined, but good for you. Remember Saftey First. However I must say that my most satisfying kill was an early 90's vette.

LfiveohX 09-17-2001 01:08 PM

It is possible he was just messing with me, but I still think had I been stupid enough to go, he would have tried to race me and swerve through the cars ahead of us just like he did before he caught up to me.

I'd guess he was just trying to act tough, and not really wanting to race in traffic. Or, maybe he actually was an idiot http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif
