The mofo MOVES

Im sure most of you remember my post about racing my co-workers LS1 Z28 with 410's on the 8th for 50 bucks.

Well, He got it all dialed in and tuned up and took me for a run today. The mofo moves....its fukn quick. I figured that he would spin like hell when he hit second but he got some cpu deal that adjusts his shift softness and now it doesnt spin at all.

I hope to god these TW heads and Holley intake drop over a second off of my time or Im gonna be in trouble http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif

lol, yea i heard all about those cpu tranny things, oh and did you get some ported tw heads? if not you should, i know its expensive, but good to have when your running against a car with mad topend, and more cubic inches.

my friend is getting stage 3's, but already runs 108 mph traps with ported stockers.

no doubt those cars are fast.

ed1371 08-26-2001 02:08 AM

Good luck man, those things are damn quick...seen more than a couple run 13.2 - 13.4 stock at the track... It's all about traction (you saw that at carlsbad) so make sure you can put the power to the ground!

Cut a 2.0 60' and get it tunned and you'll whoop him.

I think I went a little overboard before. Im going to need to gain over a half second not a full second to beat him. Its quick but I think its in the 13.5-13.4 area now. He hit a 13.8 stock. Im hoping to hit a 13 flat or better.

90dp, I didnt get them ported. I was going to but the guy at the shop that I bought the heads from said that I really wouldnt need it. He said that if I just port matched them to the intake they can support around 400hp. So I saved the money from porting the heads and got the more expensive Holley intake instead.

Fastang,
I posted the following reply to your original thread. I think he may be faster than mid 13's. Here is my original post:

OK, just want to give you some first hand info I have. One of my buds has a 00
Camaro SS with auto trans. He has the following mods:
Eibach Lowering Springs - 1 1/2 inch drop
LS1 Motorsports - Ram Air Lid
K&N - Airfilter
Hypertech Power Stat - 180 Degrees
Hypertech Power Programmer - Programmed to the following....
Firmed Shift 75%
Installed RFG
Cooling Fan set for 180 Degree
1-2 Shift +2
2-3 Shift +2
Rev Limiter 6,300

he runs 13.2 all day long. His best time (at carlsbad) was 13.15 @ 106.57. Just lettin you know. Good luck and kick *** !

90dpscoupe 08-28-2001 12:17 AM

Thats cool, the holley intake should be well worth the money, and if its port matched, your in good shape, man i bet your car would really love some 4.10's but i think i remember you saying about you liking to drive 80-90 on the highway without it screaming http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif like me.

spank that guy...good luck.

But any heads and cam 5.0 will give an f-bod a run for their money, modded or not.

With the heads/intake and a good launch, I don't think you'll have that much of a problem w/ that guy.

I think I will be able to take him. If I get everything put on by the 8th I know Im not going to be able to get it dyno tuned by then though http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif

gp0001, thanks for the input. I also have a friend with a quick SS. His is an M6 with just cutouts, MAF, and a lid and he's hitting 12.9 @ 110 on a 2.3 60ft http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/eek.gif But this guys car just isnt as fast. I've been in it and even at Pomona its best run was a 13.8.

fastang - Those newer Z28's are just weird...let me elaborate. I have said this before (and will say it again here http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif), I have seen bone stock Z28's (00's) run consistent 14.0's all day (auto) and another run 13.4's (also an auto). You really don't know what you're getting with one of these cars. That's why it's always to fun to watch these cars at the track.

Another quick experience - a sligthly modded 00 Z28 with exhaust, LID, and a few other goodies I can't seem to remember, was going 12.9's @ 108 on drag radials with 1.9 & 2.0 60's.

Regardless, have fun and good luck. I personally think with some good shifting and a decent 60' you will take him http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/wink.gif

With the heads and intake I see no problem in you getting some 12 second timeslips. I'm running my SS at the track tonight. I'm guessing 13.5's.
