Lexus 430....

Coming from the airport terminal today, when I see a nice Lexus 430 ahead getting ready to make a right turn onto the highway. I come up behind him and he takes off to the right. I'm wondering to myself, I wonder if he's going to run it or just baby it down the highway. I look right to make sure any on-coming traffic is clear and look to see how far he's gone. As I swing my head back around I could have sworn I saw a little fishtale.
Traffic is clear so I get on it trying not to spin...(going up a little hill and a right turn). I'm now behind him and I see two puffs of brown smoke come out of his exhaust pipes. He's gettin on it so I slam the hammer down and go. I speed shift from first to second and get some spin. He is still on it. We go up to 85 then had to slow for traffic. I was gaining a little, but not much.

Anyone raced one of these from a dead stop? What do they run in the 1/8 or 1/4?

Not sure what they run. Where is Unit when you need him? :D

I think they have a 270 HP V8, but with the weight factor, I wouldn't imagine that they are that fast - but maybe not based on your experience?

I would guess maybe a low 15 sec. lux-o-box?

Was it a GS430 or an LS430. The GS's have 300hp and run around a 14 flat 1/4. The LS's I think have the same hp, but Im not sure of their times, although the LS is not quite as quick. My buddy's got a modded GS430 and it's very fast. They are almost Too quick for a sedan.

My son just got one of those 400 series retractable hard top Lexus. He had to wait almost a year from the time he ordered it . I'm going to visit him tomorrow in Dallas, so I'll get to see how it runs. Maybe he'll bring it next time he visits me in Houston.

I would love to kick it's $70,000 a$$ with my 35 year old Mustang, hee ,hee.

Went for a ride in the SC430 yestrerday. It's a really nice car and handles well for a sporty luxury car. It has good power (300 HP) but I think it's pretty heavy. My son says it's supposed to run 14.7 in the 1/4 mile. I bet the LS430 is .5 slower, putting it 15.2-15.5 in the 1/4.
