I lost to a 2002 Cobra...with a smile
I love these cars!
I was coming home from work when at the first light going into Albany on 20 I see a 1999 to 2003 body style in my review mirror. I did not think anything of it till this guy was right on my tail. So, I floored it in 2nd at around 2k. I got about 2 cars ahead and he floored it and was coming around. I shifted in to third gear and he started pulling hard on me. He was right at my back door when we had to shut it down for cars in front of us at the next light. Man what a rush! I want a Cobra REALLY BAD |
It was an 99,01 0r 03 cobra they didnt make them in 00' or 02'.........
I like my car alot. But as fun as it is there is nothing like the low end grunt of a 5.0. Later, |
289 & 302 as well
Yeah Dark-5.0, I agree. Even when my '66 was a stock 289/2bbl./single exhaust (when relatively new), it would spin the tires if I nailed it from a stop light. Get a similar '67 Camaro with a 327/2bbl./single exhaust and power glide to do that.

Yeah, those 4V motors really come alive in the upper rpms.
Dark 5.0 - what are you running in the 1/4 in your Cobra? (Sorry if you've told us before, but I can't remember.) I raced an 01 Cobra last night with exhaust mods and gears. He went 14.19 @ 101.87 w/ a 2.107 60' Plenty on mph indicating a solid 13 sec car. E |
Do you think I could have held him off with 3.73s in the back? I am running the stock 2.73s.:D

My average run is a 13.9 though, If I was at sea level I could pull a 13.4 bone stock no problem. You have to spin out hard core off the line to keep the rpms high to get a descent run. I can cut 2.1 60fts but the engine is out of its power band and boggs alittle bit and I dont run as good. On my 13.79 pass I spun to the 1/8 mile. |
