Fox body and Cobra bow to '66 coupe
Cool and clear Sun. 11 AM here in Houston , so I figure it's time for a little street cruise. Would anyone believe I got 2 runs in about an hour? First was a Fox body hatch GT. I didn't know if he would go so I just eased off at the light staying even with him. The Flows make a little rumble so they know what I want. He hit it getting a slight jump but then The '66 pulled ahead easily. After getting a car or 2 I just let off at 60-70. He didn't want anymore and just turned off.
Soon after, I came upon a white convertible 96-98 Cobra. Top was down with a middle aged man alone in the car. Luckily, we hit a light on a residential blvd. Again I eased off staying even and he got a slight jump, but I had the C-4 in low just in case. I nailed it after he did and put 1-1/2-2 cars on him running up to 60-70 mph. At the next light he was in the left turn lane. I asked if it was a 5.0 and he said "4.6". It had the horizontal grill tail lights. I was thinking it was a '95, but the 4.6 told me '96-98. Obviously from other posts, these Cobras run any where from low 14's to 12's. Anyone know what a bone stock vert 96-98 runs? ------------------ '66 Coupe, 306, 300 HP, C-4, 13.97 e.t., 100.3 mph 1/4 mi. |
If the lights went left to right it was a 5.0, if they went top to bottom it was a 4.6. Which was it?
Skyler Btw, nice kills, I have to get some decent street tires so I can race on the street, I cant even punch it or I'm all over the road in smoke and in the other guys lane. ------------------ -1989 Saleen Mustang #406- TFS Heads, Edelbrock intake, E-303, 3.73's, 1 5/8 shortys, Offroad-H, 2chamber flows, 36psi FPR, 15degrees timing, 70mm tb, 73mm maf, 24lb inj, Crank pulley, MSD6A, Alum driveshaft. Sky, maybe I'm just confused. When getting into a race, I'm more focused on getting ready. May have been vertical grill tail lights. The guy said "4.6", so i believe him. I'm pretty sure it was '96-98. For sure wasn't a '99.

A fried has a 97 4.6 Cobra, with an H pipe and flows he went 13.40, I would assume the vert would be a bit slower.

Yes I agree that this had to be a slower 4.6 Cobra. We went from a roll in 1 st, so driver error shouldn't enter in. The vert probably weighs 3400 lbs. too. I did get him by about 1 lenghth to 60-70. If it had gone longer, areodynamics might have entered the picture. My car is a brick, low slung brick, but still a brick.
