Pesky Supra, actually thought he had a fast car.

I was rolling back to my place the other day when I notice a white mid 80's Supra behind me. The guy driving was annoying. He kept taking off fast from stop signs thinking I wanted to race and was really leaving the intersections quick or something.

I continued to drive normally until finally I'd had enough. Time for little Supra man to see the difference between the V-8 and his I-6. I didn't know if he was the turbo, and quite frankly, I didn't care. He was riding up on my butt again, fast, and this time I did something I almost NEVER do. I downshifted into 1st. I hate 1st gear downshifting, oh well, I punched it and he began to drop back quickly, I ran the stang into 3rd gear and shut down. The Supra was at least 6-7 cars back. Running from 20-75mph or so. Really quite sad. I've had a lot of cars put up more than that.

He got in front of me in the dual left turn lane a couple miles up the road, no "turbo" insignia's anywhere, I can only assume he had a N/A car. It was really quite slow.

The look on him and his buddy's face was pretty priceless. I think they expected a "Supra" to beat a "Mustang". Oh well, live and learn. Just cause you have a car that has a rep for being fast doesn't mean your model is.

very nice....do you happen to know what they push if they are the turbo? The last thing i know about is the supra....

1966 Baby blue Coupe, 289 w/ man. 3-speed, nothing special but the fact that it is my first mustang. I am a former import guru....no more.

I've never run it except on the street, it has new wheels & tires, new exaust, and that about covers it. Looking to change a lot in the future including engine. Any ideas are appreciated.

I believe it looked more like the bottom one.

More coupish for sure, spoiler on the back, I think it had the front ground effects as well.

Not absolutely positive.

I thought you had a good view of the front....maybe I should get some pictures of the back http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/wink.gif

The MkIII non-turbo cars(bottom picture) came with a 200hp I6 and ran the quarter in the mid to low 15's depending on driver. The turbo cars had 235 and ran in the high to mid 14's depending on driver. They weigh about 3200-3400lbs.

The MkII cars(top picture) didn't have a turbo version and were high 15 second cars....160hp I6. They weigh about 2800-3100lbs.

i really like the MkII supra's. i've read about a guy that has a 600hp twin-turbo setup on the I6 (don't remember displacement)
