Canadian Import Z28??

Okay, there's this friend of mine, not too bright, he drives a pontiac grand am and his brother has a 94 or so Chevy Z28 auto. He's been in my car when I've ran against auto Zs and beat them, but he swears up and down that his brothers is a "Canadian Import Z28" and it makes more HP than a regular Z28. I'm thinking BS. And he won't race me. But he talks plenty of trash saying he'd smoke me. Anyone have any idea why he would get the idea that since it's supposedly from Canada it's supposed to make more HP??

Well I'm not positive on the years, but being allround car enthusiast I've kind of kept track of the HP ratings.

When the first Camaros came out(LT1) they were rated at 275 HP. 2 or 3 years later they bumped them to 285 HP. Then they put the LS1 in the car and was rated at 305 HP.

That is what they were rated in Canada. Like I said not sure on the years, but I'm positive on the HP numbers. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif

I dunno if you are going to be able to take it if you run a 15.4.... I think most lt1's run almost a full second faster than you.

93 was the only year for the 275HP rating it changed in 94 to the 285HP.

I have to agree 15.4 isnt going to cut it again a LT1 even with someone driving that sucks.

What are P&P'd heads? Shouldn't your car be running fast?er

Polished and ported i would guess.
There are not any special Canadian camaros to my knowledge.

Skyler,

You're right, a 15.4 wouldn't cut it at the track. And yes, my car should be faster, I shouldn't be getting a 2.4 second 60' time, I shouldn't be spinning tires through 1st gear. But I was spinning them like mad at the track when I ran the 15.4. You tell me, should a car hitting 91mph and weighing 3600 pounds be running 15s?

According to several E/T computers I should be hitting 14.9 which I'd say isn't bad for an almost stock HO in a heavy *** car.

Oh, and yes, P&Ped is supposed to mean ported and polished. Is there something else it could have meant?

So tell me guys, what does a completely stock LT1 Z28 with an auto run? On street tires. I'm curious.

according to the old mags that i have laying around the lt1 ta's and z28's are running 14.8-15.1 1/4 mile times. they don't list mph in the 1/4 though. keep in mind these same mags have a lx 5.0 running a 15.5 1/4, so take those times for what you want.

now from what i've seen most lt1 f bods run the 1/4 in mid to low 14's at upper 90's mph.

you may have beaten a poorly running one before, but i don't think (judging by your posted 1/4 and mph, because i don't know you or your car) you are making enough power to beat a good running lt1 auto or stick!

oh and i don't recall canada getting any special h.o. cars.

They run very low 14's. I sold my friend a 94 and he hit a 14.2 with tirespin!

They all come from Canada. Every 4th Gen F-body came from Canada. They are built in Snt Teres Quebec.

275hp from 93-95 (under rated) Most dyno at 255 at wheels
285 from 96-97 They recieved a second Cat
Then the LS1's started.

I ran a best of 13.79@102MPH with my bone stock 6 speed 95 Z28. On avarage though I would say it ran 14.0@101mph when stock. Because max torque (325lb-ft) is achived at 2400rpm they are VERY hard to launch. That is why you dont see more people in the 13's in the LT1's.
