Raced a 60something coupe
 

Just got out of smoothie king with my girlfriend when a guy I used to know in a 60 something(not sure what year) coupe drives by in the parking lot... last time i saw this guy was a year and a half ago and he had just gotten the car and had a 289 with a few bolt ons... i smoked the heck out of him then. Anyway I noticed his car now had a distinct cam sound when he idled by. I got in my car and revved it up... I heard him rev but he didn't follow so I figured he was getting out at the store or something. I turned out of the parking lot and went about 1/2 a mile when I see him coming up fast behind me... instead of slowing down he goes roaring by me and weaves in and out of cars ahead. Finally he slows down at a stop sign ahead and waits for me to get next to him. I stop and look over and nod and we both hit it. We are kind of in a neighberhood so I only took it up to 45 but I was at least a car ahead by then. We came to a stoplight after that and I could hear his cam again... I asked him if he got a cam and he said... well I got a new engine.. a 302... I said oh good choice what's it run and he said 13.5... i was thinking no way he runs a 13.5... i just pulled a car+ to only 45 with my girlfriend in the car and about 200lbs of extra crap in my trunk. Anyway light turns green and he gets the jump on me...I get a crappy launch but still pull ahead by about a half a car... we are still in a residential area that has lots of cops and i am so concerned I am not watching the tach just the road and I rev to 6k... and he starts pulling on me... I shift but it's too late he already pulled about a half a car past me where he stays... we take it up to about 65 and let off. He says see you around with a smug look on his face and makes a u turn... then my girlfriend asks if i just lost(which makes me very mad at my car and myself andthe loss 10x worse). Oh well.

dont feel too bad about it i have a 69 coupe grande bored 30 over headers aluminum pistons & a 2 barrel carb i think it will give my 2000 gt a bad day so i only race gump motor co crap like the so ba z 28 beat 4 already chevy aint nothing but razer blade material but i love stopping the heartbeat
