Race for bragging rights

This guy I know, who got me into stangs, still has his 98 GT. It's a 5-speed, 3.55 gear, flows, short shifter, cold air intake. He said I could probably take him, but all our friends think he would smoke me just because mine's an auto. I have 4.10 gears, x-pipe, catback, pulleys, cold air, an 80mm MAF, and a chip. I have to think I would mop him up right? My friends are psyching me out!! What do you all think would be the outcome. (we cant just race cause we live far apart now)

i think off the line he will probley jump in front but with the 4.10s you should reel him back in and pull passed him cuz the pulleys and the chip you should have more power going to the ground than him. just wondering how much hp does a chip add on?

A chip by itself won't give you much, maybe 3-7hp. The reason I put it in was just to compensate for the speedo after the 4.10 gears went in (since it's an automatic). If you have a manual, it's much smarter to just go with a timing adjuster instead of a chip.

Are you racing him in the 2000?

You'll kill him period. You have like a 50 HP advantage.

Unless there he has some sort of HUGE driving advantage (like you suck, I not saying you suck, but if he is that much better than you, not that....you know what I mean, right? :) ) you should win.

haha, i get you. Keep in mind in the GT, I just put my foot down and go. Id' be much more nervous running him in the cobra, cause I'd probably mess that up, lol.

I think you'll take him w/ little to no problems. Let us no what happens.

Good, that started to come out wrong. I should have really checked that post. I sound pretty dumb. "I not saying", what the hell is that :D

Ok, the way I see it is he has a 14.7 car, and you have a 13.7 car. You should pull him pretty good.
