Raced a friend of mine with a 00 Vette!!
Well a friend of mine has this red 00 Vette. Well I have been wanting to race him for a while. He won't race me until he got new tires well he finally did. Well when we get to our spot I look inside his car and his taking all of his interior out and the passenger seat.
Remind you I have raced Vettes before from a kick, and I have raced his from a kick. The other two I raced from a I pulled pretty good, but his pulled me immediately and I could not over power his car. Back to the race we line up @ light on empty wide road that we race on alot. I told him we can just wait for the light to chance, and when we see green then we will hit it. We do just that reaction was about the same, and I pull out about 2 lengths right of the start. Well I keep a check on him through each gear. At the end of second he has closed a car, top of third still have one car on him the time we get to everybody I am in fourth cross in front of everbody in an empty parking lot with about 3/4 car lead. We even watched on a video camera that some guy had. We race another time. Me and him both decide to shut down about 1 block early then we did last time. Because on the last run you come over a small hill then a red light it makes stopping real hard at over 100. Anyways we line up about the same thing, but only about 1-1/2 cars off the start. He gets up right beside me at the finish, and we leave at that. His car has got to be the fastest stock vette that I ever raced. Anyways that car is fast, and I respect him and his car. Although I think the snake done pretty darn good. I think he just got one of those freak cars from the factory. Later, Jeff

Congrats CobraConv, Any new Vette kill is a good one. Hell any LS1 kill is a good one Sucks that he was pulling on you up top. But you were winning when you stopped so thats that. Sounds like his car would rip on the freeway but yours would smoke em in the qtr.

I drove a stock '00 Vette around one night in Dallas Tx. with the owner right beside me. It was sweet. best Vette of several older ones that I had driven in the last 10 yrs.
It would break the tires loose in 2nd pretty much at will. Couldn't do it much as this was the guy's baby. Very sweet ride. I really couln't fault it with the limited time I had to drive it. Rev

Sounds like a good running car you've got. A hardtop C5 with a stick is an easy 12 second car with a good driver.
Nice run! |

Thanks guys. His car is so strong. If he could come out of the hole he would have ate me up. It's all in fun though!!
I raced once before on the freeway and pulled me pretty good. I think I can get my car in the twelves if I would take to the quarter mile track again. It's so far away I don't like driving all the way out there. I'm going soon. I will tell ya'll how it goes. Later, Jeff
