Raced my Van vs my old 86 GT

Last night I raced my 85 Astro with the small block against my friend who has my old 86 GT (runs mid 14's). I got trashed pretty good, and he even burned out for a few seconds off the line. It sucks cause I have a bunch more done plus a bigger motor than the Stang, but my vans probably almost 1000lbs heavier and have pussy gears in it. I know it's a Chevy, but I figured it would be a more even race. I was planning on replacing the carb (edelbrock 600) with a Demon 650 (speed or mighty demon) cause my edelbrock sucks, and I wanted to swap an 8.8 with 4.10's in it (seems like the best rear for the price of parts/availability), but now I don't even want to, the whole deal would probably cost around $2000 to do and it would still run probably 14's so that wouldn't really be worth it. If anyone wants to by the van off me let me know, it's solid and everythings pretty much brand new (motor/trans). If I can sell my van and truck, I'd like to get either a foxbody (lx or coupe) or a 94-95 Cobra.
