Raced a new Vette

I was going to play in a tennis tournament with my sister yesterday evening when I see a C5 Vette pull up behind me at the stoplight. I start to pull away and he switches lanes and pulls up beside me. We are both going about 30 in second when he hits it. I follow suit and he pulls on me slowly all the way up third, he hit third and then I did and he put on the brakes. He was about a car mybe a tad bit more ahead of me. We were going around 75 or 80 when we shut down.

At the next light we got stopped by behind a ton of cars at the next light right beside each other. We started talking and he asked me how many pounds I was running, I said 5, even though it's around 7 or 8.. :) He was very suprised when he I said that, he though he should have smoked me. Then I asked him what he done. He had an x-pipe, cat back, Vortech intake(which I asume is CAI?) and reprogrammed chip. He said he also had a bottle, but it was empty. It was also a 6-speed. I asked him if he had been to the track. He said he ran a 12.6 at 119, not being able to hook up at Bandimere on the juice, he didn't say if he ran off the juice. Bandimere is about 6000 ft, he said it usually works out to take a second off et to get sea level numbers. THen light turned green and we went our separate ways, really cool guy, but I wished I would have asked how big a shot he was running so I could get an idea of what he ran without the juice. Oh well.

Damn, good race, but it's scary that a c5 with bolt on's beats up on a blown 5.0

Your times?

7up, I'm curious as to what you run at the track?

You have to remember the a-trim is a the bottom of the line blower. It only adds 70 hp at 5 lbs., with 7 or 8 pounds I would guess I might have 20 hp. It's more inefficient than other blowers so it doesn't put out the same power as say an s-trim at the same pounds of boost.

My friends boss ran a 13 flat with an X-pipe, Catback, and "Cold air" Intake. It's an auto. too.......97 C5.

119 mph is outstanding if he was n/a, id have to say he sprayed a 75 shot to get that mph, but maybe not, after all it is a vette,

a guy from austin comes to our track with a 6spd 99 vette, he has a titanium zo6 catback, and an x-pipe, he may have cuttouts cuz its loud, dunno, its been said he has a cam, but he swears it's stock cam, well he trapped 113 with 12.6 e.t. 2.1 60' on street tires, pretty impressive.

He said he sprayed to get the 12.6 at 119. I looked up Bandimere where he got that time and it's altitude is 5800 ft.

5800 feet! That would be like keeping the parking brake on for us near sea-level:eek:

Yeah 119 sound about right for a 75 shot at that altitude. with his mods. Maybe even a 100 shot. N/A cars get killed at that alt.

Thew guy with the M6 99 sould trap well over 113 with a cam. I would say that he is about right with the mods listed. In fact Those are my times.:)

I know, remember in the other thread i told you i knew a guy that ran the same times as you, that be him, he also owns an 87 gt mustang he is modding the crap out of, but he says his vette will always be faster, lol, that depends.;)
