I raced a 2000 GT for my first race in my 1996 Cobra with underdrives, 3.73, and subframe connectors and I still one. Missed my first gear in that race too. I could see getting actual wheel "hopage" if you speed shift into third. I am not THAT much faster than a new GT (at least when I was a bad driver) and I can bark my tires going into third granny shifting. Of course only if I go up to about 7K.
