Default Raced a Z06

So... yeah, GM's top dog.

A buddy of mine bought a Z06 only a couple of weeks ago. So we went to the evening gathering and lined em up.

He took two cars off the line on me, damn thos vettes launch hard!

By the top of 2nd I am 2 cars behind, 3rd, I match his speed and 4th, I start reeling him in hard. Unfortunately, I ran out of track to pass him and lost by a couple of meters. 1/2 a car or so. But I was going to pass him fast.

Overall a good race, he outdrove me but I am satisfied with the way my car ran. Time for traction upgrades!

The Z06's are sweet. The non Z06 vettes aren't anything spectacular, but I wouldn't mind a Z06. Nice run.

...there's a sonic blue '03 Cobra at Orlando Speedworld that would love to race ya! He ran a 12.8 last night at 108MPH, and his first night out, a week prior, he ran a 13.1 at 111MPH. All this in the 'supercharger killing FL heat & humidity! So, yes, they will give the Generals big boys a run for their money. Sorry GM fans, this isn't a redo of the '99 Cobra's problem about being underrated from the factory until they got the exhaust fixed...Later!

Sounds like a fun race. Those ZO6's can run pretty hard. The ones i've seen around here usually go 114ish, and mid 12's.

Sounds like a fun race and some good feedback. I pretty much agree with everyones responses except the one about the regular C5's being nothing big. Sounds like you have a strong running car and just need to work on the traction side of the combination, that way I could be telling you good kill.

Thanks for the invite and while I am willing to go a distance to race, 1000 miles to florida is not in my plans. I have been hearing about a few 03's at the strip most are in that 12.8-13.3 range right about where I figured. With the easy mods they should be low 12's pretty easy. I am still waiting to have my shot at one however. I have challenged 3 different people 1 in Cleveland, 1 in St. Louis and another in Chicago they all are putting me off for a few weeks. Gee I wonder why....Well thats ok I can use those same few weeks to mod just like they can But my mods will take me to 11.8s I don't think A sliencer, Pully, DR's and Exh will do that for the Cobra. But who knows....

Default well

I have a video of an 03 cobra running a 12.9@117 and it had a pulley and thats it. It was running in 80-90's degree weather with high humidity.

I keep trying to find a z06 to run. I figure that car is about as fast down the old 1320 as my bike. So hopefully someday I'll get a chance to run one. Sounds like with a little tweaking you could bag this guy for sure.

Cool. But if the Video you speak of is the one from Muncie where ol Cobra boy ran a 12.94@ 117. Then the trap the board shows is off. Unless by some coincidence every car in that lane ran has run a 117 trap. It's been busted for a few weeks. It is still not working but they have at least shut the damn thing off now so peolpe don't think that the 02 Dodge Caravan is really running 17.6's at 117

No where on earth have I seen Z06's running 120+, or LS1 Vettes going 114. You sure live in freaksville.

And trust me I see the track fairly often.

Default Freaksville?

Hey Sky, where the heck is Freaksville? I might want to make a few passes there just to see if I can improve my time slips, LOL.

I'm suprised I havn't seen you at the track Because I'm there fairly often oh wait there's more the 1 track on earth, at least my earth!

Default Location/conditions?

Last time I checked Skyman was in Cali and Aquaman was in Indi. Doubtful that they would run into each other at the track IMHO.

I'd bet conditions at the track vary some too. On one post, aquaman thought 14.0 was OK for LS1 F bodies. If I'm wrong here, please correct me.

I haven't been to Doubles in a while, hung out there last year once for a night, not been there lately.. haven't gone down to the ol' Wal Mart parking to check that out at all...too busy with work & the wife & kid, etc. Think I'll be heading out some Wed night soon to Doubles to check out the scene....if you're palnning on being there sometime soon, pm me & let me know, I'll stop by & say hi...gotta hope the rains end soon though.....

Auquaman,
sorry you cant make the drive. But mod up your car all you want, the '03's are for real & will be able to earn respect of any real car/track enthusiast out there...sorry you cant get a race in with one yet...maybe they just want to break in their cars first & then go out & spank some GM's???
Later!
