Ran my buddy's T/A !

Met up with some friends that were putting in a Turbo 400 into a LS1. A friend was there that i have run before with a '00 Trans Am. Modified with a LS6 long block, LS6 intake, 224/226 cam, mac headers, magnaflow cat back, LS1 edit, 3000 stall, 3.73's, lid, 275 Nittos.

We go from a 10 roll on 3....hit it and he jumps a half car. My A4 hits 2nd and his pull stops. Top of 2nd i pull back even. 3rd i pull half car ahead. We shut down at like 95 or so.

Another 10 roll, but i don;t spin as bad and stay even in first. Click 2nd, and i start to pull. 3rd i pull even more and shut down at 100 with a couple car lead.

Last run is a dead stop:D we go on 3 and i had a perfect launch and pull half a car in 1st. Click 2nd, and i start to pull real hard. Let off at 65 with a good 1.5 car lead.

Anyways some fun runs i thought i'd share.

Whats up EZ!! Nice kill:)

That car of yours must be a monster to pull on another LS1 with all those mods. He "should" be well into the low 12's if not better.

sedanman 02-22-2004 02:46 PM

Nice show, so when are you gonna put the nitrous on :)

I tell you the guy that told you to put 4:10's in the car was a shear genious.

Dark_5.0 02-22-2004 06:23 PM

Damn LS1's:D

What mods do you have?

Skyman 02-22-2004 09:47 PM

God your a filthy liar. You pull a LS1 w/ 450+ rwhp with your stock LS1?

Dont tell me you put a bottle on it. Fill us in .

Hey guys! Thanks for the reply's. Here is a list of what i have done:

LS6 intake, 212/218 cam (baby cam), some head work (2.05 intake/1.57 exhuast), Hooker LT's with a Borla cat back, 4.10 gears, Nittos, Lid, Pulley, built A4 (kevlar band, billit servos, shift kit, etc...but with a stock stall). Stock tuning, and Full weight

Car runs consistent 11.9's-12.0's @ 117.

Wow, It's cool you got some mods on that *****. I'm suprised that you stuck with the stock stall however. Why?

1. Money

2. Did not want to lose MPH with a stall, and i really don't want to run 11's alot b/c i don't want a cage in it right now, and i run it twice a week. That being said the car still runs 11's every time i run it at the track. I always get a couple runs in and they kick me out!

3. i LOVE the way the car performs with the 4.10's (Gotta thank Sedanman for highly recommending these gears) and the 3.06 1st gear in the trans w/ the stock stall. Makes a killer street combo. My friend with the T/A let me drive his car after we raced, and i did not like the stall that much b/c it softened up the shifts, and was hard to launch it w/o spinning. I love that my trans hits so freakin hard. It will chirp 2nd at the track sometimes hard. My friends say it looks like someone is powershifting a M6 when i run it:D

Hows that Vette? You need to take a trip to the southside with the spray and look for that Turbo Buick we ran;)

Skyman 02-27-2004 11:47 AM

You two f-in bastards.

Do you know how much you two sobs have me considering an LS1 now?

I drove an LS1 vette, god its so different from my torqueless cobra. I couldnt believe the down-low punch.

Good we'll switch you to the dark side yet;)

When did you get the Cobra? Sounds nice.

EZ - I was down there looking for him one night and found his dirty butt. We ended up on 465 and I pulled him by about a half car off the juice to about 110 when we shut down (I guess having less weight helped me a little). Next time I sprayed (only the 75 shot) and walked him by about 4 cars to 110 or so from 60. I'm sure he was thinking WTF? I saw him at IRP late in the year and he ran a 11.95@113.

I'm getting gears this spring myself, should help a bit.

Skyman 02-28-2004 01:02 PM

Yeah I know... Im going to check out vettes on the recycler now... lol.

Go the cobra about 5 months ago. Had a Blue 98 first which got totaled by my g/f in about 2 weeks.

EZRIDN 02-29-2004 09:20 AM

Skyler----Those C5's are awesome. After riding in Aquaman's car I wanted one soooo bad. They handle killer, and have a 3rd gear pull with that 6 spd that is crazy. I think you'd be very happy with one. The torque from my car is sick with the 3.06 1st gear in the A4 and the 4.10s out back with the killer heads i have.

Aquaman---Sounds like that weight did make a difference. Glad you found him and let him know whats up. Sounds like he had a pretty quick car, but as we know those LS1's run awesome from a freeway roll.

Skyman 03-01-2004 03:07 AM

I just looked at what they cost and no thanks...

My cobra will run 11's on a stock motor here soon, I promise.

Ha ha. Thats exaclty what I was thinking. Those DOHC motors Love boost. Are you trying to run 11's all motor???

Skyman 03-03-2004 01:01 PM

Yep, I'll be shooting for high 11's on all motor, stock heads, cam, and lightly ported stock intake.
