Thumbs up Recent Regal Kills

Well, I don't have my 5.0 anymore, but I have been busy modding my daily driven 2000 Regal. It is finally starting to come together.

A few wednesdays ago I went to grudge night at LACR. This track is at 2700 ft elevation in Palmdale, so keep that in mind when you see my times.

I surprised quite a few people, including myself on a few runs.

My first big kill was an LS1 Camaro SS. I believe it was an auto, and he ran with a rather large passenger(300lbs maybe?) Well, I guess it really wasn't a kill because I redlighted(.43X DOH!!!), but I ran a 14.9 to his 15.0. I don't know how he screwed up, but I was still pretty stoked.

Next I ran a late 80s 5.0 convertible. I spun pretty bad, but wound up wiining with my 15.0 to his 15.6.

My last run was against a stock appearing 99+ GT Stang. My last time at the track, I ran a slightly modded one who ran a 14.5, so I was a little worried. I slept at the light(.806) but pulled one of my best 60 fts( I'm still learning to launch 300+ft lbs opf TQ through the front wheels). My 60 foot was 2.247, 1/8th mile 9.518@74.087, and the 1/4 in 14.812 @ 91.726. This was good enough for the win, even with my horribe RT. His RT was a little better at .7X. LOL It felt good. Corrected for elevation, this is a 14.34@94.48. Not too shabby for a boat.

I guess I better post my losses as well. My favorite was to a 96-98 SVT Mustang. He was running slicks and 3.73s and I think that was it. I had one of my best lights(.550) with a pretty good 60ft of 2.24 to a 14.86@91. It was nowhere near enough though. I don't know his RT, but his 60' was 1.806 and he ran a 13.3. These are uncorrected numbers mind you. I talked with the guy afterwards and he was just learning to run the slicks. I told him he should try out 4.10 gears, and he said no, he was getting 4.56s that weekend. DOH!!! He was real happy since his corrected time put him in the 12s with only gears and slicks.

I also lost to a few C5s, and to one of my buddies modded GTPs. I also had numerous GTP kills as some of my fellow club members were out playing.

Soon, I will have some headers, and a modular pulley system to go even smaller on the blower. I'm hoping to get my 60' to a 2.1 at least, and with the headers and 3.25" pully I am hoping for a 14.45 at the track next time. That would give me a corrected 13.99.

I also talked with a guy in the staging lanes with an LX notch with a Vortech blower. He ran a 12.6(uncorrected)!

I miss my Mustang!!!

If any of you guys run up at LACR, and see a big Blue 4 door Regal, come up and introduce yourselves!!! The track announcer has been making a big deal about my car since she has the same model.

Cool runs, Dave.

Sounds like you're getting into the supercharged 3.8 thing pretty good. If your interested (or maybe you already know of it), there is a website for Grand Prix's and GTP's, but they have a Regal forum too. The site is www.gp-owners.com

Take it easy,
E

Thanks Eric.
I am a member over at the Gp board, and also the RegalGS board(www.regalgs.org). While I am no fan of FWD, I needed a family hauler, and this was the best one for my needs.

I came really really close to buying a 98 Regal GS over my Tahoe but the tahoe won out because I could tow the stang if need be. But everyday I drive to school and work in the tahoe and some ricer or near stock pony car pulls up I wish I would have bought the GS.
