There is a new Saleen model called the S281 Extreme. I believe it's rated at 425hp. Has a new version of the roots blower on the 2V 4.6L. I think that they said this isn't even the replacement for the S351, so I wonder what else they are planning to replace that?

Hmmm.....I was considering building a car & this guy told me I should consider the Extreme, but I can't seem to find any solid facts / times about it. Thanks for the help.

Looks like the car is going to go for about $60k. I think you could build alot of car for that much cash. Check the saleen website if you haven't already. No times there though. You could e-mail them and ask how fast is should be. Steve is real peticular about who gets to publish tests about his cars. Kind of unfortuante that is, I think.

The S281E has 425 FWHP (not RWHP).

It is an S281E with upgraded internals to take the extra power. It also has all the suspension goodies on the S281. I believe it has even wider tires, though.

The base price is $55,000.

check out www.saleen.com for more details.

The Extreme is on the cover of the January MM&FF. They drag tested it in the April issue, here are the results:
Street tires
60' ET MPH
2.10 12.691 110.26
2.00 12.669 109.37
1.98 12.247 112.55

10.5" Slicks
1.84 11.832 113.90
1.68 11.702 111.81
1.68 11.731 111.64
1.70 11.734 111.49

Pretty damn impressive for a car with a warranty! If money was no thing, I'd have one.
