Shelby Cobra Clone kicked my @**

Well, I got beat by a kit car. 1968 Shelby Cobra Clone with a 460. All I can say is WOW. I got a better launch and pulled about a car length ahead of him, but after that, he just flew. I figured he would beat me but man, that car was way too light for the motor. If he put wings on that thing it would fly. I quit trying after about 110 when he was 15-20 car lengths ahead of me. At least it was another ford that beat me and not a ricer. I talked to the guy afterwards. He has never run it at the strip. He just takes it to car shows. When he lifted the hood, the engine looked clean enough to eat off of. He had 2 4-barrel carbs and some HUGE headers running from the engine compartment out along the outside of the car. You know what I'm talking about. He says he's got a wrecked 92 hatchback at home with a bunch of performance parts on it he'll sell to me so I got his number and hopefully he'll have something I can use.

along those lines

along the same lines, on my way to work this morning i went to pass a 67 shelby GT 500. probably was a clone, but looked awesome. i pulled up next to him at like 20 mph, looked over the car, pulled back a little, looked at the back of the car. then pulled right beside him and gave him a thumbs up!. he gave the thumb's up back, and then waved his hand as if to say "see ya!". he left me so far bhehind it wasn't even funny. not surte what he had, he never stopped. i was driving an 85 camaro berlinetta, with the 305 auto. shift kit, 3.73's(i think), head work, intake work, 650 quadrajunk. car does low 14's, but still. he left me like i was standing still.

Those cobras are insane. The HP to weight ratio is awesome. I'm not a huge fan though. I would rather have a GT40 clone, or better yet a new one :)

in terms of a really small car with way too much engine, i would rather have a caterham super 7 superlight R500.....half a ton and a 260hp 9500 rpm N/A four cylinder...just imagine the forced induction possibilities with flow like that.....:D

I love those old style Cobras....the kit cars seem like fun to...I like the whole thing where you can dump a Fox body mustang car into.

yea and I'd rather have a rocket powered Riding Lawnmower but what does that have to do with the price of tea in china

Barrfight, what have you done to your car? When are you going ask him for a rematch? Nitrous oxide should give you a better chance at kicking his *****.
