SHO-down

Hey, there is a kid at my school, running a 91 Taurus SHO, completely stock. He has been tellin everyone that he can spank my mustang, actually his actual words were, " I'll SHO him what a real car is all about." Clever, not really :). But i told him that i would race him and hand his A## to him. So what do u guys think? I know that Taurus SHO's are quick and all, but its still an SHO that is STOCK. My mustang is all stock also, except for the Mac Cold Air intake and K&N Filter. Its a drop-top Aod. Excellent traction with the tires. What do u guys think?

Honestly, I don't think he'd spank ya but he'll sure as hell give you a run for yor money. I base that opinion on you running an AOD convertible. If you had a 5 speed hatch or notch, I'd lean towards you but those are some heavy cars and that AOD is kind of a slug. Plus, he's running a 5speed, they didn't come with an auto until 92 and for a 4-door it's decently a lightweight. But what the hell, go out there n race em, maybe he is even a $hitty driver.

dude, read my sig. Mine only has a k&n and runs 15.19. Dont be surprised if it beats you. My SHO weighs 3250 without driver. Its no Lightweight.

I think it will be a good cose race. Those are the most fun anyway, win or lose. If he beats you, it won't be by much, and the same if you beat him. This just might inspire you to do a few simple and inexpensive mods, and the 5.0 is extremely amenable to mods. Just my $.02.

You never know in this kind of thing, Race him and tell us. It seems close but maybe he sucks at driving, anyway just tell us how it ends up.

It will be a close race if you run him from a stop, if it is from a roll, my money is on the SHO. The Shos may be low 15 sec cars stock, but that is mostly due to the difficulty in launching them, not enough revs=BOG, too much revs=SPIN. Running from a role will definately work in his advantage.

Run him from a stop, and let him try to run you down, his trap speed should be higher, so the shorter the race the better.

Good Luck,

Dont get before a 92. The 91 is a GEN 1 and i have heard some bad things about them. When i bought mine it had 130K and he told me he had replcaed the clutch. No slipping yet so i belived him. Blew out the valve cover gasket and replaced the plugs and wires(cost me 375$ doing it myself! Rapirs for the SHO are not cheap) and put a phanolic spacer in it. It still leaks oil, but i beat the pisss out of it daily and it has given me no major problems.
