Thumbs up Shooting For 12s!!!

I've posted before asking if my car could go 12s on the stock motor. Well this past weekend, the best time dropped from a 13.72 to a 13.67 with just an aluminum driveshaft, and about 50lbs MORE weight. I tried one Nitrous run and went 13.02, but the pressure was low, my 60ft sucked, and I topped out 4th at 106. I wanted to go one more time and get a 12 on the Nitrous, but I'll wait till I can run 12s on the motor first. By the way, any MHRA guys on this board?

There are no tracks in CT (man that SUCKS) but I normally go to Lebanon Valley or New England Dragway. My best runs have been at New England, but the pits there are a real pain on the tires and your back. I'm hoping next year to run at Englishtown, and get some better times.

Lebanon Valley's OK but it's sort of the "poor mans" Englishtown. It's equi-distant for me so I go to each about 2-3 times yearly. What was your 60' time if I may ask? How much juice are you running? I've been thinking of going w/ an aluminum driveshaft, any difference from stock, other than 30 less pounds?

Why wait to run 12's on all motor? If your going to be like that, then why even have nitrous? 13.02 is really CLOSE! Just get a lil bit better 60 foot time, and your there.

My 60 foots are between 1.85 and 1.95 on Hoosier slicks. The aluminum driveshaft actually only took about 15 pounds out, and I had to weld in my safety loop for clearance. As far as the 12s on the stock motor, most of the guys I hang out with run Firbirds, Camaros, and other Chevy products. Most of their cars run 11s or so and I feel slow, so I decided to challenge myself in a certain way. I was told by a friend with a 1995 Camaro that my car would only see mid 14s this stock, and that Fords are a waste. Needless to say his car, MORE modded than mine has only gone 13.7x off the nitrous (went 11.9 on 150 shot)and he still doesn't believe my times. I want 12s on the stock motor to be unique, too prove all the GM guys wrong, and too have <hopefully> a 10 second car on the juice!!!

my friends 89 coupe runs 12.43 @ 104 with the cobra setup. The car is gutted, weighs 2710 punds. It just has pretty much a stock gt 40 setup with exhaust and 3.08 gears. The best i have seen with the non cobra setup is 12.81 @ 103. it was a speed density car with 3.08 gears and basic bolt ons. but it had a stock motor. So fords are not junk after all. but, my nova was faster than my mustang.

And more to come.
BEST TIME ON BOTTLE---11.51 @123

I'm in your boat 3pony.......but I'm hoping to drop into the high 11's NA before injecting some giggle gas . Do your friends go to LV w/ you? I don't think I've seen more than 2 GM's going under 12's?!? When do you go? How often? We should meet up.

This year I've only gone 4 times, but I plan on going next year more often, and hopefully run in this MHRA event that I recently started doing. What it is is a group of guys who run different classes that have nearly the same rules as the NMRA. They are a great bunch of guys, and the pro tree is so much fun. They usually run @ LVD or NE Dragway, and I race the Factory Stock class. Most of my friends don't go up with me, because they run on the GM high tech days, or other GM oriented days. You may have seen a white Trans Am running in the street series, and that car now runs 11.7s. There is also a red Nova, owned by the owner of J&M Motorsports in Manchester, CT, which has gone 9.95. There is also the before mentioned Camaro that went 11.9 on the juice, and a few Chevelles, and other Camaros that are mid 11 to mid 10 second cars. I don't feel slow, just unique!!!

My car is a 1991 LX and besides the slicks mounted on 88 GT rims (pony's up front), it's pretty much stock looking. Never heard about the redo on the track, but I have heard they are forcing everyone at Test and Tune and public events to run a full exhaust. LV is right off the end of the Mass pike, right near Albany. I'm sure you could find directions on a map search or something.
