Saleen/Dustin.....wow, that 1/4 and trap time (12.5 @118) on street tires is outrageous.....what's your secret?

Not sure, low 14's? mid 14's? It all depends on when and where, and driver.

FastBlkz28 05-20-2001 09:28 PM

With a good driver or a auto the Lt1 will put up a good fight but most of the people I have come across on the street suck on launching so most of the Lt1s I have raced run in the low 14 range I would say. Last night I raced a friend in his 5.0 and he runs in the 14.2 range I went on his move and he would get me by a car and by the end of the 1/4 I had 1 1/2 to 2 cars on him. So you should give most Lt1s a good fight.

Yeah, and that 310hp rating is real accurate http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/rolleyes.gif

I've taken all the LT-1's I've come up against. It's always been a decent fight from them, I can only put 2-4 cars on em, and after the begining triple digits they start in with the advantage.

Everybody has seen the fast LT-1, except me.

I've raced 3 LS1's, never to triple digits. I've won all three of those races, two have been nearly dead even, one was a blowaway from 5-70.

Actually, I raced my friends LT1 '96 Camaro for the first time on saturday. The first time I bogged and he spun too much and I got almost 2 carlengths by the beginning of second when he missed second (grinded) and gave up. On the second race we both spun too much and we were running dead even and I guess we hit a small gravel patch and both spun bad in second so I let off (too dangerous). On the third race we both got great launches (no spin at all, but no bog) and we ran even with him not pulling and me neither (except when he shifted and vice/versa) but he edged me out with my bumper at his front wheels at 80 mph. I was surprised. I thought I would need to get the jump from the start on him in order for me to hang but I guess not. Im gonna get some DR later though and stop running on these Dunlop SP5000's Ultra-Highperfomance All-Season's.

Hey Unit, were you being sarcastic when ou said that 310hp is real accurate? Because if you are, it really is pretty accurate. The new Ls1 camaro's are puttig down like 290-300 rear wheel horsepower all stock. Good thing most of the people that own them don't have gears in them. =P I've also beaten all but one Lt1 camaro I have raced. But he had a 383 with a vortech. =P See ya.

I think he meant they are under-rated. Most 2000 LS1's are dynoing at 300rwhp which means about 345 at motor.

You are correct, very sarcastic. The LS1's are way underrated.

To my understanding the LT1 was slightly underrated (I'm not sure on that). So were the 5.0 Cobra's. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

TheSloAod 05-21-2001 07:23 PM

stock LS1s usually run anywhere from 12.80 to 13.60 around here, and stock LT1s usually go 13.80 to 14.40. i am always very picky when trying to pick on an LS1. they simply haul *** .

------------------
My slo aod- 3.73s, pullies, flowmasters, h-pipe, bbk cold air, and 13.42 in the 1/4 @ 103 mph

Yes you are correct. The LT1 are also under-rated but not as much. Most stock LT1's dynoed at about 255rwhp and 306 RWT. So thats about 293hp and 352 lb-ft at the motor.
