Shouldn't it run faster?

I ran a 14.5 @ 98mph the first time I went to the track last week.

ya, you should be conciderably faster, what altitude?

LeadSled1 07-06-2001 10:50 PM

What was the track conditions? I went to Cecil last Saturday and the conditions were terrible. 110 degrees, and real low barometer. I might go tommorow morning if it is still cool out.

Stang Runner 07-06-2001 11:10 PM

Man I would be piss off if that was all it would do!!!

I just came back from the track. I ran a 14.6 @ 96 mph. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/confused.gif I beat a Cobra tho... http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif What should this car be running?

It was at Capital Raceway in Maryland. The temps were cool.. about 70 degrees. The altitude isn't high.

Does anyone recommend any horse power boosters? It can't cost a fortune tho... My wife is already asking about life insurance. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/rolleyes.gif

My 1st time was 14.5 @ 98mph, my 2nd time was 14.6 @ 96mph. I'm not sure if I spun, maybe a little. It's a 5spd.

What rpm's are you shifting at and what do you have for rear gears?

Nitrous Al 07-11-2001 10:40 PM

NYC1, we need all of your information. It's a '94, how many miles are on it? 60ft times, temp, are you running 3.08 gears & 17" tires? (A SN-95 mustang needs about 30hp more than a Fox body GT to run the "same" e.t.). What do you mean by "you're not sure if it spun?" DON'T GET UPSET, but "CAN YOU DRIVE?" Lots of guys "THINK" they can drive, but this might explain the slow e.t. What rpm are you shifting at?

NYC1 07-12-2001 10:37 AM

I am running stock gears.

Not a convertable

Shifting right before it gets to the red line.

I made sure the car wasn't ~hot~ before I ran

17" wheels, Regular street tires.

117k on motor.

I forgot to check 60ft times. Will check this eve.

Nitrous Al, I won't get offended, because I know it's a different world on the track than it is on the street. That's why I'm asking you guys' advice. I can definitely drive on the street. The strip is is new to me. I've only done 3 runs. I didn't hear squeals when I took off because the windows were up, and I didn't really listen for it. I was concentrating on taking off quick when I saw green.

One thing I need to change is my tail pipes to 2 1/2". They're stock, I don't know if that'll make much of a difference though.

A lot of it is track conditions. I've run a 14.20 at 99mph to 13.78 at 101 at LACR 3000ft altitude. It just depends on the humidity, temperature, barometric pressure, and wind. Your best passes come when the racing gods give you the conditions. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

Skyman 07-13-2001 02:15 AM

101mph at LACR! Damn thats good. Your car is running good with the blower. Now lets get to a good track, you can get 6-7 more MPH at carlsbad than LACR.

Something is definitely wrong here and it is more than just driving. With your GT40 heads, Intake and 65mm T-body, you should have much better and higher trap speeds which tell your car's hp story. Geez, stock 94GT's run those traps.

I think there is much more power in your car to be found in the tuning or something is wrong. Did you buy the car with these mods or did you put them on? We'll figure this out..

acording to the caluculator here at MustangWorks you only have 232 HP, but I didn't know the weight so I put in 3600 pounds which should be close(i think)
