To fully grasp the B.S. nature of this post (350 hp), one might benefit from pondering also the nature of Eclipses. He didnt state the year, but that really doesnt matter based on the facts stated by Mr p.o.s-Let me explain: First, he mentioned a first race where he beat the guy by 12 lengths and then a second race where nitrous was used. He was ahead by 5 car lengths and then the Eclipse "hit it" and passed him for about 2 sec whereupon Mr. p.o.s. decided to utilize the remaining supposed several hundred horsepower he had on hand. To make a long story short if he actually running 350 hp then this makes the second race of particular interest. Acoording to his story the Eclipse passed a 350 hp car at least at some point during the race. This tells us many things about what type of power the Eclipse would need to perform like that. The possibility of a latest generation Eclipse performing like that is unlikely, mods for them are still hard to come by and the chances of coming accross a latest gen Eclipse with the nessessary mods is slim to none (especially in Austin- there aint none). Which leads us to the conclusion if his account of a race is true, that the only type Eclipse capable of generating the power needed for the second race (assuming his car actually has 350hp) are the previous generations of 4 cyl cars (any of the 90-98's I believe). So, you either have an anemic naturally aspirated 16v 4 cyl, or a turbo 4cyl. Which one of these types of engines do you think is most likely to be found with nitrous as a mod? The turbo? No way, an Eclipse built trick enough for a turbo and nitrous would be a rare, awesome machine and would have destoyed him in the first race where no nitrous was used (remember, he says he won by 12 lengths). So we either have an older 4 cyl with a small shot (its all they can take) or a latest generation 6 cyl with a small shot. So with the possible cars narrowed down we can now look at the validity of the second race. He says he was ahead 5 cars and then the Eclipse "hit it" and then FROM 5 CARS BACK PASSED HIM! To jump that hard and fast on a car which has 350HP would take in my estimation the equivalent of a built 5.0 with a 200-250 shot which puts us somwhere near 550 hp.We can now safely conclude that neither the latest gen Eclipse nor the previous 4 cyl with only a shot of nitrous is capable of the size nitrous shot needed to "hit it" and generate 550 hp and instantly fly up 5 car lengths on a 350 hp car. We can also conclude based on the 2 choices of opponent possibilities that he has been passed by a fairly slow car. His account would be just about perfect if he was referring to a race between a normal V-6 Mustang and either of the Eclipses running a small shot (actually the latest gen V6 with a shot is the best guess). This all leads to my final brilliantly deducted conclusion: he has a near-stock V6 and NOT 350hp.
