Default 500 CL gains respect for '66 coupe

Today on Braeswood Blvd. near the medical center here in Houston, a Mercedes 500 CL goosed it from a light. I was in the far right lane, another car in the middle lane and the Mercedes in the left lane. I wasn't expecting anything. As the unknown silver car jumped out a car length, I just instinctively nailed it. I came by him pretty fast at about 50 as I chirped 2 nd gear. Traffic and road construction kept us from any further real racing.

I looked the car up on the net and it's a 5 liter dohc putting out 302 hp@ 5500, 329lb./ft. at 2700. The car weighs 4100 lbs. with a 5 speed auto trans. I guess it's no wonder that I got him pretty easily with me having more power and less weight.

It was still fun blasting by his $120,000 car. Just guessing that it was a wealthy physician since it was near the medical center.
