Post Results: 97 Cobra vs. 2001 GT

My car is the 97 Cobra vert. (25,xxx miles)
His car is a 2001 GT Hardtop (18,xxx miles)
Both cars are 100% stock, (save a K&N).
His car is a 5 Speed.
Both of us are newbie drivers to the track and each of us had 1/2 tank of gas. This was my first time at the track and his 2nd or 3rd.

We raced twice against each other.
1st Race
Me------------------Him
r/t 1.22----------1.581
60' 2.271---------2.219
1/8 9.752---------9.595
MPH 77.12---------71.70

He got me this race, eventhough I was ahead the whole time and had a higher MPH. I spun all the way through second dammit. Racing on the street is a lot different than on the track. No ******* traction. By the time I seemed to get traction the race was over.

2nd Race
Me-------------------Him
r/t 1.026-----------1.159
60' 2.411-----------2.5
1/8 9.788-----------9.836
MPH 76.89-----------75.59

I still spun like mad in second, however, this time I let up on it in hopes it would bite. I guess we both did pretty bad this run. But the Cobra came out the winner!

My best time was
r/t 1.164
60' 2.187
1/8 9.488
MPH 77.86

All in all it was a great nite. Had a good time. I guess these times aren't too bad for a beginner. I need to learn how to drive the Cobra better. I didn't shift into 3rd on any of the runs. That might have been my downfall. But, I did wind her out to 7,000 in each gear.
Rev limiter kicked in once. (Good thing!)

Anyway, I know the results would be different with different drivers. But, with two average working guys, the cars are about the same. And that is what I wanted to see.
