K first off i kinda have vague details all i knwo its oenm of those newer probes wiht a million valves 4 cyl 5 spd.
I was told it woudl be near a 1/4 mile I was also told dead stock I imagine they are lgiht and have decent take off SUpposedly he raced his bro's cobra and only lsot by half a car length (that seems really strange doesnt it?)(Makes you wonder if it was more liek a 1/8 mile) Now I could be wrong but as far as i knwo tose 4 cyl probes are not any match for even stock mustangs I currently have WIndsro senior heads hraland sharpe rockers 3.73 few traction things hurst shifter full length bbk headers and exhaust and alot of little things Now am i worng but shoudlnt i jsut smoke him very very badly? I jsut dont get how a cobra can even be near the prbe when they are done... Oh also when shoudl i shift wiht the stock cam? 5200 maybe? |

What kind of Stang do you have?
Not like it matters, as long as it's got an 8 in it, you should be able to waste this guy. The only thing with Probes is they have like 4.30 gears stock, so they can use what little they've got pretty well. I friend of mine had a 5-speed Probe GT with flowmaster and Filter, and I beat him with my stock, automatic 97 GT. They can't be more than a mid 15 car.

You could probably shift at 3000 and whoop him. Probes run high, high 16s stock.

not trying to say that he could beat you, but i took my brother's Probe GT to the prom way back when (94). went down the thruway and had it topped out at 145. took a while to get there, but it got there.

1988 GT weighs 3080 ibs.
I was wondering if that what the deal was and with how light his car is i imagine where we are racing has to be rweally short so he didint get sluaghtered by his bros cobra I top out at around 145 anyway so his top speed aint gonna mater much .... not to mention we wont be anywhere near that at the end of a 1/4 mile |

if he has the older turbo model he could give you challenge in 1st gear and maybe part of 2nd
i raced a modded turbo probe a few months ago, if i had to guess i would say it was a low 14 sec. car. i pulled roughly a car each gear! but that was the fastest i've seen! most are much slower! I'm sure there is some faster too though! if it's NA your probably wasting your gas unless he has noosss ha ha.leon

With your mods, I wouldn't worry about it. My Probe is quick but it isn't a Mustang Killer that's for sure. I have surprised a few stockers with those 4.39 gears and the fact that it revs to 7000 rpms BUT anything with mods would hand it its azz anywhere other than the highway.
I don't know what year that Cobra was he raced or how terrible your friend's bros driving is but I know my Snake would be an easy 8 cars ahead of my Probe at the end of the 1/4. ![]()
