Not good . By looking at your SIG. I will say you need to pick up around a second on you track times to give him a good race.

Won't matter much. They are both very close in power output. He will kick your butt until you're running much closer to the 13's.

No! he would waste you.......Sometimes getting lower gears slow you down I went from 2.73's to 3.73's and lost 2 tenths
Mainly cause of traction problems..

Technically
Technically, you MIGHT be able to beat him. Since he has an auto and you have a 5spd(I think). If you could drive your car as good as a pro and he sucks horribly. I think you could beat him or at least stay pretty close.

You would have a better chance if he had a 6speed, much harder to drive than that AUTO.
If you can get down to 13.8-13.7 you have a chance. Then it just comes down to reaction time. Skyler

well, when i ran the 14.6, i couldnt shift, and i was spinning in 1st & 2nd, and slightly missed 3rd.
now i can launch with barely any spin, and shift fast to 2nd with no spin(or verry little) i would guess that if i put on my h-pipe, and ran on 94 with 14* timing, i would have a good chance. My timing is at 8* right now, and i was wondering what kind of timing i can safely run on 87octane? I wont be getting gears, and am not sure what i will spend my $380 (230 american) on. would pulleys be a good thing to help me get past the Z28? what other small things could i look at to get me in the 13's? thanks.

The 01 A4-Z's are running strong, like 13.6-13.0's, and the auto's rarely make mistakes. I have one, and I can run really consistent, ESPECIALLY on the street!

Your MPH just isnt going to cut it.
Im not trying to break your spirits, but just trying to prepare you to most likely loose here. If you can scrape up some more cash the only way I see you beating him cheap is putting in some 3.73 or 4.10 gears and a set of borrowed slicks or something, and kill him off the line, with a killer 60'. The Z28's and the SS's run about the same, in 2001 the Z28's and the SS's got a different cam, and an LS6 intake, the 98-00 did not have these. I've raced my friends in their stangs with more mod's than you and gears, from a stop I pulled so many car lengths it wasn't funny, and from a roll I was ahead about 7 car lengths. That was my friend with an o\r H-pipe, 3:55's, electric fan, etc...

well, i checked my timing, and it was at a nice 6*, so i put it up to 10, and it pulls so much better, its faster now all weighed down than it was with everything out of the car. i will have my h-pipe on by the time i race him, and take all the junk out of my car, even floormats.
I am pretty sure(fingers crossed) I will keep about 4 cars behind, if not, less. also, i am going to be racing a 87 rx-7 with 290hp, built for nitrous motor, and a zex nitrous kit with 100+ shot(not sure what he will have it set for). i know i will not stand a chance with him using the n2o, but without it should be fairly even. he ran 14.9 with his last motor pumping out 248rwhp.
