Question Racing an M3

Im supposed to race an M3 tomorrow. It's a bone stock 99 coupe. We're gonna go from a roll, but early, like 20mph. Everyone thinks I can kill him, but I'm not too sure. What do you think will happen. This guy's a good driver, and mine's an auto, so that's that.

Are you serious? Your gonna KILL him. UNLESS you auto is stuck in second gear. He can manualy drop his car into first and if your at the right rpm your auto wont kick down. He might get a big jump on you then. But probably still reel him in. The E36 M3's really arent that quick. The new M3's however are fast as hell and would probably beat you or give you a damn good run. I have heard of them hitting 12's stock but never personaly seen it.

You should walk it pretty good. You probably won't "kill" it, but you should pull the whole time.
I work at a BMW dealership and drive these cars all day long. While impressive for an inline 6, their 240 HP won't hang with your power and gearing. Now the new M3's are a different story, but you aren't racing one of them.

The new M3 has over 330 hp. You might have a chance in a short race since you've got the 4.10 gears. But he will run you down in the long run.

I raced a new M3 a couple months ago and had him covered, but I'm over 350 hp also.

You sparked my interest so I looked up the new M3. Its got 333 hp and ways about 3450. If you used the estimated ET calculator on this site is says that the M3 is capable of 12.7 at 107.

Just thought I would share what I learned.

Yes, but Im racing a 99 (240hp), so 12.7's are FAR out of reach for that model. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
