New times after C4 conversion
Is there any trick to launching an auto? I ask because I read these combos with c4's and 3500 stall converters 60 footing like crazy, yet my car is a dog off the line.
I footbrake the converter until the car is about to push past the brakes, (about 2000-2200 rpm) then floor it when the lights go. I ran 11.1x@125.xx. My only pass because I got booted for having no cage. My 60 ft was a mid 1.7. I used to get 1.5's with a stick. Is there a trick to this? |

Hmmm.....you're only getting up to about 2100 before it pushes past the brakes with your 3500 stall? I have a 2500 stall and crappy drum brakes all the way around and I can load it up to 2000 no problem without having to worry about sliding past the line. Maybe that's because you have a helluva lot more power than me?
Do you have power brakes? Are you making enough vacuum to hold them? I don't really know what to tell you besides that the guys that are getting 1.5 60' times are most likely launching a lot higher than 2000 revs and have a transbrake. My best 60' is 2.5 on street tires (launched at about 1200 rpm, tried a 2000 rpm launch on my first run and didn't move for a couple seconds after I gassed it, lol)...really horrible track (no prep, have to run outside of the grooves)....it's also at 3500+ ft....but the car was all over the place. It was pretty challenging sometimes to keep the car going straight. With slicks I should probably get a 2.1 or 2.2 out of it. Not sure what to tell ya...... |

3500 stall?
Do you actually have a 3500 stall convertor? I know you said you heard about 3500 covertors and good 60' times, but it doesn't sound like yours actually stalls there. With your engine set up, I'm betting you need high stall and/or low (high numerical) gears. A dyno test will show the stall very acurately, if you do it in 3 rd from a low RPM without any down shift.

Dude, you need a damn trans brake. I have a 3000 stall and I can stall it to about 3200. I still need more to get off the line though, more like a 3500 stall. I would deffinitely invest in a trans brake. They are really nice for launching. Good luck man.
