500 CL gains respect for '66 coupe
Today on Braeswood Blvd. near the medical center here in Houston, a Mercedes 500 CL goosed it from a light. I was in the far right lane, another car in the middle lane and the Mercedes in the left lane. I wasn't expecting anything. As the unknown silver car jumped out a car length, I just instinctively nailed it. I came by him pretty fast at about 50 as I chirped 2 nd gear. Traffic and road construction kept us from any further real racing.
I looked the car up on the net and it's a 5 liter dohc putting out 302 hp@ 5500, 329lb./ft. at 2700. The car weighs 4100 lbs. with a 5 speed auto trans. I guess it's no wonder that I got him pretty easily with me having more power and less weight. It was still fun blasting by his $120,000 car. Just guessing that it was a wealthy physician since it was near the medical center. Rev

Forgot to mention what I saw at Norwalk Raceway Park last week. There was a newer Mercedes AMG something or other. Anyways, it was a supercharged (looked like the M112 blower) model that was AWD (I think). The guy was running 13.5's @ 104 pretty consistently. I thought it was cool coming out of a 4-door sedan. Probably $60k+ though.

Nice Job....!
AMG's pretty much like Cobra's with Mustangs. But becareful AMG's can be quick... The SL55 AMG has 493 hp @ 6100rpm & 516 lb-ft @ 2,750 - 4,000 rpm. And it weights 4,235 lb. Check it Out if you want to look it up. §am.
