Default New Engine Decision

I have 10 grand to spend on a motor. I am debating on either getting a 408 stroker with two stage nitrous or something smaller like a 331 with a supercharger and a ton of boost. I have had a bad experience with nitrous in my last motor and am scared to use it again. the motor will go in a 68 mustang with a tremec tko 5 speed and 355 gears. it will be a custom built motor with forged everything. nitrous was fun as hell but it sent my motor to hell. my last motor was the original 302 with a cam, intake and 4 barrel. now im stuck with driving a damn 4runner until i get my motor. this is a street car but illegally race on the weekends. any thoughts, suggestions, opinions or comments would be great.

I think if I were you I would go with the 351 stroker. But use boost. If you were to make a 331 handle a lot of boost safely you would need to run an R block or get one of the new Dart blocks. I would think that the 351 would be cheaper to build, and you could run a hell of a lot of boost through it too. But, thats just my opinion. Take it easy man. Good luck on deciding.
