Who would win?
My friend has a stock 2001 V6 coupe with a 5spd and thinks he will smoke me if he drives his car right. I have a 91GT Conv. with an AOD. My mods include, 2 chamber flows, off-road h-pipe, BBK shorties, underdrive pulleys, CIA, 14*initial timing, etc, etc., all on top of a transgo shift kit with a set of 3.73's. My best ET was a 14.26@96.8, but I recently for some reason could not get my car below a 14.52 when I went to the track 2 weeks ago. It needs a tune up.
Who would win? I'm pretty sure I know who would, but just for kicks, what do you guys think? Is my friend nuts?

you're friend is his own worst enemy! The kid probably "feels" like he's going pretty fast, or won a race against a mustang when the other driver didn't think he was racing! I say race for the pinkslip and when you win give the car to your grandmother!!

You're going to smoke him, chances are with an optimal run, he may be able to get a 15 flat in the 1/4 mile, but if you race on the street or even at the track you'll probably flog him. Good luck, go for it and then laugh at him.

His car has a 15.6 in it at best. You spank him easy plus you have the edge with the auto. You know you wont miss a gear.

Well, I raced him 2 days ago, on a very long wide street in my home town, which is said to be about 1/4 mile long. You guys were right all the way. I started with a bad launch, and he pulled ahead just a tad because of his 5spd, but once I shifted from 1 to D, my tires chirped and a flew right by him. I ended up beating him by about 7-8 car lengths. He claims he "missed" 3rd, but my other friend who was with him in the car said he drove fine. I also had 2 other people in my heavy convertable with me

Nice to hear you spanked his @ss.......The best mod you can do is sticky tires. After you do that all he will see is tail lights.
Congrats,

All I read was the first post, and not the replys. I have raced a few V-6's in the last couple(NO Spray of course) and they were all pretty close. With ALL things working perfect, I can see 1 in the HIGH 15 range. At the track, the times are from 17.0 down to 16.0,.16.5 being the norm.

Some of those v-6 stangs are pretty impressive with a small shot of n20 and gears. There is a guy running around here with a stock v6 with just a powerdyne blwer and runs low 12's not too shaby at all.

glad to hear you gave him what was coming to him!
That's a pretty impressive 1/4 mile time for a convert.
