Run with a Lightning
I ran into a Lightning the other day (not sure what year, but it had the clear taillights). I spotted him by my house and we drove on a 2-lane for a while to where it opens up into 4-lane freeway. I was itching to see how it would go against him but there were too many cars. We didn't get to run 'em from the stop light because of traffic, but we managed to get to a clear spot and go from about 50 mph. He did the 3 count and I went from 3rd gear (4.10s). He immediately pulled about 2 feet on me and held it for a bit. By 100mph I pulled back even and was starting to gain on him, but we had some cars up ahead so we slowed down (I don't weave through traffice or blow by cars at twice their speed). I would assume that things would have went downhill for him after that given the brick-like aerodynamics of a truck.
Anyone know what a newer Lightning is supposed to trap? My best run is a corrected 13.47 @103 w/ so-so 2.1 60.

On a slick a 99 and up Lighting should run around 13.6 to 13.8 stock. I've walked on several stockish Mustangs, of varying years, in my Lightning. It's pretty funny to see the look on their face when a truck beats them. On the street tires it will only turn 14.0 to 14.1 for an ET because it just skates like ice through first gear on the track. But, it MPH's well. You need at least a BFG drag radial for track runs or better yet... a slick. On the street though the street tires do pretty well.
