When i moved to colorado from Flordia the horses left my mustang seem to have lost alot of bottom end. Befor i moved to CO i swaped the upper and lower to a GT-40p 70mm throttle body and a 73 pro-m mass air. is this the real promlem? timmimg up to 18 and everything else is stock. should i put the stock upperand lower back on?

Don't forget that your elevation is probably much higher and will result in the motor making less power.

Yeah, oxygen ALOT thinner up there. That timing is kinda high I think, I see people usually advance it to 14 or so. I don't know, I can't really say anything though cuz I haven't even advanced mine yet!

Oh yeah, the throttle body might be a tad big, maybe a 65 would work better. Just a guess. How does the car feel on the higher rpms.

I can see two main problems:
1) Elevation change 2) TB is too big ------------------ 1991 Mustang GT - Cobra Intake, FMS 65mm TB, C&L 73mm MAF, GT-40P heads, Crane 2031 cam, Crane 1.7rr, Built AOD, Art Carr 2400 non-lockup converter, Transgo shift kit, BBK chrome cold air, FMS 'P' headers, Pacesetter off-road H, BBK aluminum pulleys, 2-C Flows w/ dumps, 4.10's, Steeda STB, for now... Becarefull with your timing. 18 is a bit much. If you start to hear pinging in your engine, set it back to 13 or 14 because you can blow a gasket and you will mess up your heads.

In my 91 mustang lx we ran 12 degrees timing and 93 octane gas and that is where it ran best at, with octane boost it worked best at 14 degrees timing.
That is where we got the best times at the track; and I have to agree with everybody, your throttle body is too big. ------------------ James Cox nochevy@hotmail.com 1991 Mustang LX 12.565 @109.38mph 1.764 60ft |
