Raced a 4.6GT tonight
There was a car turning left in front of me and after it turned I pulled next to the 4.6(95-98) and we both took off. I was about half a link ahead when he shifted to 2nd, and I just burried him. I figured it was just a missed gear but then I was stopped at a light and the GT came rolling up behind me slow so he never had to come to a stop before the light turned. That worked ok but the 4.10's saved me. I was even with his rear bumper then pulled away hard. Are the gt's that bad? For now Im just passing it off as a couple of missed gears or a rice boy driving a stang.

In those years ... yes they where that bad... mid to high 14s, ... it should be no suprise to you if you run that 12.9.
BTW, is that an actual track time? 12.90 or is that estimated? If you run the 99+, you would have a better challenge. ------------------ Lizard King, Bone Stock; 13.69 at 101MPH • Extreme Burnout •2000GT VS LS1 • Quartermile run •2000GT vs LX Stang |

Also the post about the dodge spirit race is in here somewhere. I'd search for Dodge spirit or something like that. ------------------ 1987 black with t-tops. I think we need Rev's assistance here.
I just find that time a bit low for your mods. (I'm no 302 expert...) Are you going to the track soon? ------------------ Lizard King, Bone Stock; 13.69 at 101MPH • Extreme Burnout •2000GT VS LS1 • Quartermile run •2000GT vs LX Stang |

Good race, you should have no problem annihilating a near stock 95-98 gt. I think you'd probably pull a 99+ gt pretty good too. As to the 12.9... that's probably a little too optimistic. Not saying your car doesn't run it but I have an AOD and with your mods I'd think you would be running more around 13.4-13.7, especially without a converter. Not saying you don't run 12.9, it's possible though. Get it to the track and find out.

****, I knew this would happen. Im not saying that I DO run the 12.9, its just the best case senereo estimate, hense the "probably less" in the sig. No need to argue times here as I said I "have no proof" (never had it to the track) Just looking for insight on the 98gt. You think its less? Good you're probably right. No arguement.

It sounds like you have a pretty sweet 5 liter but I can't help but to agree with fivepointOH Those damn AOD just kill ET's especially out of the hole I to would expect 13.5-13.8.

Dont get mad dude! No ones calling you a liar. Lizard runs fast for what he's got, You could too. I myself will never make an estimate on my et again EVER. I beat a modded 98 cobra, a few new GT's, and hung with an LS1 till 4th, So I figured I could pull a high 13, maybe a 13.50 at absolute best. When I went to the track I spun horribly (even with drag radials) and hit a 14.4 at 98mph detonating down the track. The car really needs some tuning Henceforth I will never make an estimate again.

It's just the "probably less" can go the other way... like you know "I run 14.0 but it could be probably less..." ... does that mean 13.8 or 14.2????
We ain't flaming, but I'm with fastang, you should only post an actual time you had. Anything else would be setting you up for a drop... ------------------ Lizard King, Bone Stock; 13.69 at 101MPH • Extreme Burnout •2000GT VS LS1 • Quartermile run •2000GT vs LX Stang |

OK,here's my experience. 4.6's can be good or not so good. I've been up against 4.6 Cobras on the street (verts, admittedly) that I beat. I actually ran even (believe it or not) with a blown '99 Cobra at the strip, with a roots style blower, but he was only tuning and running 3 lbs. of boost. I talked to him on the return road. He ran 13.7 and I ran 13.8. Some '99-01 4.6 GT's run like Lizard Kings......well into the mid 13's almost stock. Some LS1's run like LS1Jay's, previously mentioned here that go low 13's. I'm personally gonna go against anyboby street or strip as we really only know what's gonna happen afterwards. I've won against people where I had no right. Ive been beat where I thought I had it in the bag. Do we ever know until after it's over? I guess that's my question? Me, I'm gonna run anyway, where ever.

96-98 4.6 gt are dogs. mine ran a best of 14.75 at 95mph with several bolt on's. they are even slower with an auto, and even slower if the driver revs it past 5k rpm.
