I grew up in the late 80's-early 90's with the GN vs. Mustang rivalry at it's peak, what a riot. Stock for stock they were pretty much even, however when it came to speed mods the GN was way ahead and still is in my opinion. I believe the LC2 modification advantage still holds true today dollar for dollar. For under $1,000 my car can go from factory stock low 14's to mid 12's. For $2k I'd be low 11's - high 10's no problem, all day long and still be a quiet as a church mouse. All throttle and no bottle.... Lift |

They make for a great meal for lunch.
The only bottle I hit is a Mountain Dew, to wash all that blackness down. Yumm

I see. Respect for one's competitor is a positive, especially in light of the obvious truth. Overconfidence can be detrimental to one's ego.
I guarantee this, take the same modification $ you put into your Mustang and put it into my GN then check the outcome. It's all about power to weight ratio and it's cheaper to get that on an LC2. Be careful around some of these, they look so much alike and some hardly look threatening: 1 2 3 4 5 6 Not bad 50mph - 100mph Last edited by 20LbsBoost; 02-22-2004 at 05:27 PM.. |

Dude, you have nothing to prove to me. I go to the track all the time, all cars are fast, your not getting special treatment here.
Power to weight- go to IamAricer.com and rant over there. "I guarantee this, take the same modification $ you put into your Mustang and put it into my GN then check the outcome" You checkin out my taillights Oh dont forget im not running a "power adder" and im running Sunoco "94" pump gas. 10.6-1 compression. Hairdryers are for women

You need to take a chill.
The fastest mustangs are running hairdryers and they are far from women!! Just ruffing you up. I feel that "internet" GN people have something to prove. The track guys are much cooler.

C'mon, you've got to be kidding. I give credit where credit's due unlike yourself. Peruse my video library here where you'll see plenty of 7-9 second Turbo Buick V-6's. I'm not trying to prove a thing other than have respect for capable competition. The Mustang vs. Buick rivalry has been very active since the LC2's been in existance.
Without a doubt my particular GN is a low 14 second car, I'm not living in dreamland, though it is a rare example of an original car. All I've said is beware of the stealthy Turbo Buick that may look like a 13 second ride, it's the proverbial "wolf in sheeps clothing". Plus, there's very few Turbo Regals roaming the steets anymore. The ones that you see are somewhat, if not highly modified. The condescending, holier-than-thou attitude isn't reflective of this community as a whole from my 15 years of experience playing with Mustangs. It's a shame to see. PS. I'm just busting your balls so chill-out. |

Honestly, i have dial-up , and it would take about 25 years for me to watch them. Maybe when i go to my brothers house?
I have utmost respect for TR's, its some of the people who drive them. Not you though

ahhhhh the go old days!
Well 91gturbo we could debate all nite about the Mustang vs
grand nationals of the late 80s early 90s , but why not take the easy way out and agree on some thing.. That is of course, JUST how slow the crapmaros where of the late 80s early 90s where! What a joke! I long for the good old days!these xs1 really get me down! But the one thing you didn't mention about the Grand naional vs Mustang is that same thing that Ford forgot today...that Mustangs where sooooo cheap there was one under every ones car port...GM messed up the GN by making them un avalible to the average guy.Now ford is making the really fast Mustangs un avalible to me , the average guy. I think that Ford needs to start over ,forget the mod motor.4v heads , ok...More bore capacity.NOT big rig stroke! as for the evo Well when every I go to my local track , these super imports never seem to hold water when the clock is ticking!

Back to the discussion
The Evo's are AWD...you have got to know how to launch them, or they will run 5.0-5.4 0-60 on the street. Now if you get someone who knows how to launch...4.3-4.4-4.5. that will be tough. They do fall off on top though. Usually 4.3 sec cars turn low 12's on the street (vipers, 360's, ZO6's)
His car should be well capable of 12.80's @ 107-108. It would definately be a "catch me if you can race". And the comment about the Cobra ECU...that was ovestated. I had a Cobra ECU in my old 93 Snake. With a port job and TFS cam, exhaust, I made close to 290 rwhp. Very capable of mid 12's. They do rob SOME HP, but not as bad as Dark said. I have heard rumors of a max swap of 5-15 hp between that and the A9's. Definately switch if you can, but that is not going to kill you.
