Yesterday I fell victim to my first ricer fly by... By the time I saw him coming back for more and I downshifted I couldnt pull him. Then like an 1/8 mile later at the next light he made a real quick evaisive right turn so he didnt have to sit next to me at the light. I was pissed, I was so going to embaress him and his lame new civic.

Check the threads for my previous car and then tell me I am a rice boy. I love mustangs but my previous car would toast the car I own now. Rice also usually don't know squat about anything. Inferno has already taught me quite a few things. |

On a similar note....any questions about imports could probably be answered by Inferno better than about 85%-90% of the guys on this board, myself included.
yeah yeah.......I'm pounding it in the ground and breaking it off.... |

Whoever was saying a turbo MR2 will beat a Mustang - I have raced a few stock ones with my new GT and killed them so bad that they wouldn't even pull up at the next light.

I see it now. A flame war begining to brew, and the lock out of this thread.
I've ran several turbo charged imports on the streets, and while I won, there were some pretty damn close calls. A Turbo'd Dodge Avenger gave Eric a run for his money (he was driving my car). WHile my car was 100% stock. After talking to most of those drivers, they were actually cool about it and surprised how fast the new GT's were. I'm sure out there somewhere there are a few imports (supras not included ) that will smoke my a$$ like a cheap Cigar. And I'm sure there are some high dollar and heavly modded Imports I'll blow the doors off of. ------------------ 64 1/2 "D" code Red Mustang Coupe. 289, C4, 3:1 rear gear. Mallory duel point. yup he's right ! Stock MR2 turbos run anywhere from 14.4-14.8 in stock form...and let's see....someone said that a 4-cylinder import CAN'T touch a V-8 Mustang...well I'm not sure what year of Mustang you're talking about...but a stock Mustang GT runs in the neighborhood of 14.1 - 14.8 depending on the years..and the MR2 turbo (4-cylinder mind you), runs just about the same times...
in fact, I used to have a stock MR2 turbo...pure stock and spanked the hell out of Mustang GT's from dead stop or roll... The only Mustang GT to come close was the new model..it was a 01' Mustang GT..the guy was cool..but he didn't beat me..it was a tie. so if you want to blab about your Mustang GT NOT losing to a 4-cylinder MR2, you've got some serious issues... OH and by the way..I'm not longer stock..and it's funny when the 94-98 Mustang GT's rev at me and they get blown away....poor guys.... true story..believe what you want or race a real MR2 turbo and not an n/a...other wise let the 3.8liter V-6 Mustang TRY to race an n/a MR2...keep it fair.... Oh. and by the way...please for the love of God, stay away from the Supra twinturbos...thanks |

The beginning of the post was attacking ricer flybys, lets be honest although currently it's the imports doing it (more of them around) they aren't the only ones. I've had mustangs (GT's, LX's, V6, Cobras), Camaros, Trucks do flybys as well as imports.
Does it mean they are slow...not necessarily they just either jealous or intimidated and are trying to "prove" they don't need to line up next to you for a legitimate race. A 90 LX hatch did a flyby on me and every time we got close he would back down. A week later at the track he was running 11.9@115. Personally I have respect for some of the import guys. At least the ones that have the courtesy to pull over after a race or at least give a good heads up after a race, win or lose. One night on my way home I raced a 95 SE-R with a DET motor in it and we were dead even (I was running 13.3 at the time). We both BS'd for a while and he was pretty cool. In the end he hooked up a buddy of mine with a good source for imported motors. That same buddy of mine who was always a Pontiac guy bought a 91 Sentra SE-R 3 years ago for $2,000. He lightened the car a bit, put a header and striaght through exhaust, NOS Direct Port kit with a 110 shot. The NOS on a 110K mile motor fried a bearing he picked up an overseas version of his motor with higher compression for $500 and the car now runs a best of 12.54@114. Not bad for a $3,500 investment. On the same note you could do the same with a mustang, pick up a decent hatback for $2,000, drop some weight, add a 150 shot and run mid to low 12's. I don't want to step on any toes but there seems to be a lot of people talking about how the imports can beat mustangs. What is the name of this site? Either many of you have mustangs and just respect imports, or are import guys on this site looking for an argument. Don't want to get my a$$ chewed, just making an observation. my $.02

Better run a lot quicker than a 13 to beat some of the imports, y0.

Twincam-your saying a MR2 turbo with 200hp(I believe) and not that much torque, would beat a smoke a mustang off the line? What kind of mustangs do you race? Just curious....Around here MR2's aren't really a big threat to me at least, the stock ones aren't really fast, I drove my friends, there ok but....It's hard to beat a 5-speed stang out of the hole with a good launch. But I like most fast cars, and you act like SUPRA'S are sooooo unbeatable, yes they have the potential, I was looking into getting one but couldn't find a used one for less than $30g's. Plus then the mod's on top of that, bad *** cars and all, just pretty high dollar. I'm sure there are plenty of guys on here that could show a supra a thing or two. I was reading this one mag. at the store and in Japan this shop built a 1300hp supra street car. =P Ahhhh 1300hp, then maybe I would be happy! =P Now I would rather have an RX7 over an MR2 anyday! There was one at the track last week, looked like he was testing some stuff, high 12's, then a 12.01, and the guy was shifting so slow, like WAAAAA.......WAAAAA. OH WELL....I love fast cars, just as long as it'll make you say HOLY **** I'LL DIG IT. Later guys.
