holy crap, what the hell???
ok, my firend has a 98 z28 stock and we have been to the track a few times in the past (last year). the best he ever ran was a 14 flat. i used to beat him in my other mustang with boltons and gears. we just raced tonight with my new one and the first two times he kicked my ***. now i couldnt give it much gas without spinning and 2nd gear was spinning too, but he has stock tires too with the same problem. then i suggested that we go from a rolling start. we punched it from about 15mph and i was ahead for a split second, then we are beside eachother the entire way. we did this twice and the same result happened. that made me feel better than from the first two times when he killed me, however i thought i should be able to walk away from him with my mods. He said that his car feels faster this year. it has about 28000 miles on it now. SHOULD I BE ABLE TO BEAT A STOCK 98 z WITH MY MODS? I HOPE SO. WHAT DO THES CARS RUN STOCK IN THE 1/4 MILE? I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WOULD RUN 13.4 CONSISTENTLY AND A 13.2 WAS THE BEST IT RAN! TALK TO ME BOYZ!!!!

I have raced a friend's '98 Z28 and beat him by a few cars up to 100 or so. Mine runs low-mid 13s on street tires, so maybe your buddy has some new mods he isn't telling you about.

thats about where they run. low to mid 13's. you ran him from a roll and hung with him. thats there strong point. so i'd say you made a good showing and yes it's possible he might have made a few mods like maybe a air cover lid that seem to be popular with thhe ls1's. is he an automatic or 6-speed??

hes got a 6-speed. i was reading the times for those cars and the best i saw was a 13.7. 13.8 was most common! I need to learn how to launch this car anyways, but it seems that whoever gets the launch will win. can his car be fasteer just after some more miles are on it? AND how much does the lid knock off the 1/4 mile for the Z's?
thanks

A lid is good for another 10-20 hp.

Yes, i seen the same thing, fastest was an 01 formula i seen, lid, cutout, maf, stock eagles gs tires go 12.8 108 one night, if you can hold one of those from a roll, your car has power.
but you need strokers or poweradders to just walk away from them, the gearing is better in stangs from a stop or for me a 40 roll, i go to 2nd gear and i do well and usually run even with them, i couldnt do that without ported heads and a bigger cam, and they are still a hanful with h/c/i

Well heres the deal. Your car isnt running very fast for the mods it has. Your trap speed of 102 isnt gonna hold off LS1's.

LS1s are damn fast. Solid low 13s with any competant driver.
A 5.0 requires some freaking solid mods to keep up with them.

Well I havent read these last few posts on here. it must be that he couldnt drive the thing to save his life. i think he has learned how to now. never knew they run low 13's stock??? like i said I thought high 13's. especially since his best time was a 14 flat (he must really suck). ANyways, I have my 75 shot of nitrous hooked up in there now and working ., which he doenst know about! Now we'll see who can hang with who
