Post WOW...Hennessey Venom 800 goes 9's

Ok, I just wanted to post this because it is UNBELIEVABLE for a 100% street legal car.

2001 Hennessey Viper Venom 800
0-60: 2.43
¼ mi: 9.99@139

Of course this was on slicks, but it is still freakin fast.

It has 833 HP too. Street Legal....damn

Is it just me or shouldn't it go faster than that with 833hp and slicks?

830HP with 3500lb runs a 9.41 quartermile given ideal conditions by the analyser here.

It's mind blowing fast for a street car man.

The viper doesn't have a very good suspension for drag racing, I thought it should trap about 145 mph(or more) with that much power, I guess it doesn't get to the ground that well. Man that would be an E-ticket ride though!

Cool

Not impressed. With that much HP, he should be hitting low 9's.......possibly breaking off an 8 on a good day.

Cool

well the pro 5.0 cars are pushing about 1500-1800 horspower and they run low 7s so 800 running 9s is about right

13sec95vert is right...once you hit a certain power level, it takes more hp to get you faster...you know for a 13 sec car, 10 hp is good for about a tenth, but when you get to that high of a level it takes more like 20-30 hp to get a tenth of a second...anyways, It is faster than my car is now or ever will be, so I have no complaints, BUT if I had $167,000, I would have a helluva lot faster car than that, but I highly doubt it would be 50 state legal.

With this car you have to look at the whole package, not just the 1/4 time as it not optimized for just drag racing. It goes 0 to 100 and back to 0 in 10 seconds. 0 to 60 in 3.2 on street tires and 2.43 on slicks and tops out at around 230 mph - this is a mind blowing street car, period.

Car trend tested it on not so good track conditions and got it up to 193 m/h in a mile. They say they might even be able to top it in that distance. Much respect for a street legal car like this. Can you imagine how easy it is to smoke those tires? aaahhhh the enjoyment.
