Question What do I need to Drop 1 Sec. off my E/T

Hey everyone, This winter I'll be able to finally save up money for my car. (after I buy x-mas gifts that is) and well I figure I'll have at least $1,000...and I was wondering if it's possible to drop a second off my E/T with that? (after I put on my comp T/A's drag radials and my transgo shift kit is in) I don't think I can but I would like to do the best that I can to make this thing accellerate much better. thanx alot in advance.

IMHO, the only way you can do that is with a N2O kit. A 150 shot should get you that, but there's a pay back in engine life.

heres what i would do, get a good stall converter, i just put in a 3000rpm stall converter and i cant beileve how much quicker my car is off the line!!! get a trans cooler cause the stall converter will run the tranny hotter. next do exhaust mods, headers, h pipe, and less restrictive cat back. if thats not enough get a nitrous kit, that should help a lot! with all that u should pick up a second, or close to it! good luck!

all the little stuff will not drop a second off your time. Seeing that you have a heavy vert like myself, you might want to go with nitrous like I did.

if you look at my sig, my motor is basically stock, but I have built my car from the ground up. My best so far? 13.4

150 shot will drop you a second easy.

Well, if you tune it safe and dont go through 2 bottles a week then you will have no problem with the NOS. Just spend the $$ for a wet kit that injects fuel along with NOS and you will have a much safer more consistent tune.

4.10 Gears wouldn't hurt either!

basically all u need is a free flowing exhaust and a set of gears and a 175 shot of nos. i used the dry system put 373 gears and a flowmaster exhaust and hit it with 175 all summer long it went from 14.80 to 12.80@109mph with all the mods and drag radials

no ive never hurt anything with the dry system and i sprayed it all the time, im talking a 15 lb bottle every 3 or 4 days for 2 months. i had a couple pops. and melted a couple plugs but thats it. nothing that hurt anything. When u play with wet systems thats when hurt stuff. as long as u set your timing right and mix a little good gas u should be fine.www.smallblockposse.com

Thumbs up

90LXDroptop, you got to go with the gears and nitrous oxide system if you only have $1000 to play with right now. Find a shop to do the installation and tune it so you don't hurt parts. Good luck.

Default How does this sound...?

Well guys, I really didn't wanna use a nos system...but I've been convinced. I didn't mean that I absolutely want to drop a whole second off my e/t...i was just wondering if it was possible...lol Well I already have 3.73's...I really don't wanna go any higher to 4.10's...but how does 150 n20, drag radials, subframes, long tube headers, cat-back system sound?

I was in the same boat you were a few years ago. I started out with a BONE STOCK 15.1. Then I added Gears: $150, Slicks: $284, Pro 5.0 Shifter: $200, K&N: $30, Lakewood Shocks: $80, Aluminum Driveshaft: $169, Pulleys: $85, Removed the A/C, and took out a lot of weight. After these mods the car went 13.6 with a 3000 RPM launch and a 1.84 60 foot. I know your car is an auto and a convertible, but I'm sure you could do it. My advice is gears, Converter, Shift kit, tires, and transbrake. Then take weight out and run it.
