Default Just got a taste of an ls1

I was just comming home from work after some overtime, and it was night already so i took it easy.Anyway i was driving home on 301 when this firebird formula came up t me and letting me know he wanted to race.We didn't get a chance untill we drove left on causway and i cought up to him(I though he went the other way so i slowed down).Anyway when i caught up i noticed he downshifted and waited for me to punch it.So i did,and we were pretty even till about 80mph(i was expecting that from a roll)I shifted into fourth alittle early, and he still had alot of third left. Then he shifted into fourth, his tires chirped alittle and he started pulling on me like i was in fifth or something We had to break it up because of traffic, but he was a cool guy.I gave him a thumbs up and we talked about the cars alittle at the stop light. He seemed alittle surprised i only had gears, chip, off road x pipe and a cat back.He had a k&n filter headers, and an off road pipe he said.I think they all use y pipes.Anyway he turned out to be a cool guy unlike most other lt1/ls1 drivers i meet. All in all it was a cool day but i didn't like racing on the street.

PS:The road names only mean something to people who live around here.So don't ask me why i wrote em down thinking they're importaint or something.

Not all of us F-body drivers are jerks. Some of us understand the difference between a friendly rivalry and deep hatred.

I know you're not all like that. But some are just unjustified. Here's an example.I was driving around a long time ago when this guy in his 50 pulled up next to me in a 98-2002 z28.There was alot of traffic so there was not gonna be a race, just playin around i figured. So he stepped on it and i cought up to him,so i pressed the clutch slightly pressed the gas pedal, and dropped the clutch again, and my tires were spinning like crazy.(we were only driving like 25mph at the time). So he pulls up next to me and for no reason just gives me the finger.I just don't get people like that.Anyway, most of the f-body guys i know are actually pretty cool. And yeah a chirp in fourth can be done even without powershifting if you're fast enough and got a good clutch. He had stock tires.

You ran on the causeway? Too many cops out there for me, lol. Though me and a buddy got our collective hindquarters handed to us on gulf-to-bay one time by a quy in a nice blown fox. We started moving, and he was on the other side of the intersection going for second

I know, they're always driving around there comming from faulkenburg. But in the heat of the moment you don't think(care ) about those things.I was stopped on 301 and faulkenburg before both go onto causeway.Luckily i never got a ticket though.

A LS1 with headers can be a tough car to beat, even when you have H/C. Chirping 4th is not to unreal for a LS1 car with some mods. I just love the look on the face of F-body owner when they think they are getting ready to run another stang with just exhaust.

im talking about the way you pulled up on him and rev it and drop the clutch causing your tires to spin not that you guys were playing cat and mouse and to me that is uncalled for on a street that has traffic on it if you guys were on a open road some where then thats another story but thats just me

But he tried that same thing with me just that he can't spin his tires at that speed because he drove an automatic.I just showed him how to do it,and he gives me the finger and drives off like i had just killed his dog or something.

I've had a few people give me the finger and this is my usual response:

with a thumbs up

People get real confused when you give them a thumbs up and a smile when they throw the finger your way. if nothing else it confuses then since they confused you

Well i didn't expect that,i just didn't understand why he gave me the finger.I mean,he does something and fails. So then i show him how it's done and i get the finger? Anyway. That's a good idea. From now on i'll start giving people a thumbs up. You'd think people get smarter as they get older.
